What is the Voodoo Doll AI trend?
The AI voodoo doll is a 10-second Halloween clip where you get stitched: strands of twine and black thread whip in and wrap your arms and neck, your skin turns to rough burlap with cross-stitched seams, two black buttons replace your eyes, a grin is sewn on, and you slump sideways like a rag doll in a candlelit cellar full of cobwebs and jack-o'-lanterns. Here you add one photo, get a free preview still of yourself on the cellar bench in about a minute, then make the video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). Your hair, glasses and clothes stay on the doll, so it's plainly your doll.
There's no single viral post behind it; it's an AI effect several apps sell for Halloween. 'Halloween Voodoo Doll' is a named effect in PixVerse's effect list (we read it through fal.ai's PixVerse v5.5 effects page on 18 Oct 2026; no launch date is given). The earliest dated mention we found is aieffect.art's roundup of Halloween AI effects on 18 Jul 2026, which listed a Voodoo Doll effect and grouped it with its Haunting Doll as the eerie, atmospheric picks. Magic Hour has a 'Halloween Voodoo Doll' template too: an 8-second, 720p clip on Kling 3.0 where grey ribbons wrap a person on a rainy street, the body turns to stitched burlap with button eyes and a sewn grin, and the street becomes a Halloween scene. It showed 0 uses when we read it on 18 Oct, by which time pxz.ai and GoEnhance had their own versions as well.
Ours is a burlap Halloween-prop doll, not a religious object and not a curse. The clip opens on you, waist up, sitting on an old wooden bench in a stone cellar lit by dripping candles and three glowing jack-o'-lanterns, with one loose strand of twine on your wrist. Then the twine snaps tight, more strands spiral round you, the burlap spreads from your hands to your face, the buttons and the stitched grin appear, you give one crooked head tilt and flop sideways. There are no pins, no blood and nothing that hurts: it's spooky, a little funny, and over in ten seconds. If you want the porcelain version instead, our Haunted Porcelain Doll glazes and cracks your face in an old nursery.
Is the Voodoo Doll trend still growing?
Seasonal and niche rather than breaking. Voodoo doll effects have been on sale since at least July 2026 (aieffect.art's roundup of 18 Jul), at least five sites sell one on 18 Oct 2026, and we found no single viral post or published view count driving it; Magic Hour's template showed 0 uses. Like most Halloween formats it should build toward Saturday 31 Oct and fade in November.
How to do the Voodoo Doll trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Photo tips for Voodoo Doll
- One sharp photo of you, face to the camera and well lit, waist up or closer: the first five seconds are on your face.
- Your hair, glasses and clothes carry over onto the doll, so a recognisable hairstyle and a favourite outfit make it look most like you.
- If you wear glasses, keep them on for the photo: the buttons end up behind them. Take off sunglasses and hats.
- Adults only: your own photo, or an adult's who said yes. Never a child's.
- One person per photo.
Who to cast
- You (the classic)
- The friend who always says you've got them wrapped round your finger
- Your partner, with their yes
- The group-chat horror fan who already owns a burlap costume

Which app makes the Voodoo Doll AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Voodoo Doll?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the AI voodoo doll video?
A 10-second AI clip where twine and black thread wrap round you, your skin turns to stitched burlap with button eyes and a sewn-on grin, and you slump sideways like a rag doll in a candlelit Halloween cellar. It's made from one photo of you and opens on your own face.
Is it free?
The preview is free: add a photo and see a still of yourself on the cellar bench in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p.
How do I do the voodoo doll trend?
Add one clear photo of your face, check the free preview, then make the video and post it. There's no prompt to write and no editing app: the cellar, the twine, the burlap, the buttons and the sound are built in. Add a sound in TikTok, Reels or Shorts if you want one.
Is this a voodoo doll filter?
Not a live one. A live filter paints stitches on you while you film; this is a finished 10-second video made from a photo, where the twine wraps you, the burlap spreads and the doll flops over.
Will it still look like me?
For the first five seconds it's your face, close up. After that the face becomes burlap with button eyes, as in every voodoo doll effect, but your own hairstyle, hair colour, glasses and clothes stay on the doll, so people can tell whose doll it is. The free preview shows your face before you spend anything.
Is it about the Vodou religion?
No. It's a burlap Halloween-prop doll and nothing more: no altars, symbols, rituals or curses. The pins-in-a-doll image mostly comes from 20th-century Western films and books rather than the religions themselves; Wikipedia's Voodoo doll entry notes such dolls are not prominent in Haitian Vodou or Louisiana Voodoo.
Are there pins or anything gory?
No. There are no pins or needles, no blood and no stitches in skin: the stitches are only in the burlap. It's eerie and a bit funny, closer to a stop-motion Halloween short than a horror film. Every take is new, so watch yours before posting.
How is it different from the haunted doll?
Our Haunted Porcelain Doll keeps your face and glazes it into cracked porcelain in an old nursery, with a stiff doll's head tilt. The voodoo doll is soft and handmade: twine, burlap, buttons and a stitched grin, ending in a rag-doll flop.
Is it a specific movie doll?
No. It's a generic burlap doll in your own clothes and hair. It doesn't copy any film's or game's button-eyed or stitched character, and we don't use character names.
Is this the Gacha 'voodoo doll trend'?
No. 'Voodoo doll trend' also turns up in Gacha edits. This is a different thing: an AI effect that turns your photo into a stitched doll.
Can my dog or cat be the doll?
Not yet: it's made for one adult. For a pet, try one of the pet Halloween templates instead.
Can I make one of my child?
No. It's for adults: your own photo, or another adult's who said yes.
How long is the video?
10 seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p: about five seconds of twine wrapping, a couple of seconds of burlap and buttons, then the head tilt and the flop. Magic Hour's template is 8 seconds at 720p.
What photo works best?
One sharp photo of you facing the camera in good light, waist up or closer, with no hat or sunglasses. Keep your glasses on if you wear them, and wear something you like: your outfit ends up on the doll. One adult per photo.
Is my photo kept?
For 30 days, then it's deleted automatically, and it's never used for training. You can delete everything sooner with Delete my data on Your videos; the details are in our safety guide.
