The Bad Times trend the song, the row and the AI dog
The Bad Times trend is a TikTok lip-sync to "Bad Times" by Imael Angel, a deep house song, in which the person on camera mimes a full-blown row with whoever is filming. It took off from @bouuhyachaka's post of 20 Aug 2026, AI dog and cat versions followed on 22 Sep, and the song itself is made with AI tools from lyrics a person writes. It isn't on Jump on the Trend yet: ask for the AI dog version below, or put your face or your pet into a similar live trend with a free preview now.
What is the Bad Times trend on TikTok?
It's a comedy lip-sync. The song plays and the person on camera argues with the person holding the phone without a word of their own: grabbing their head in disbelief, planting a hand on a hip, throwing both palms up to say stop, pointing, leaning into the lens, then going quiet with a stare. The joke is the gap between a calm, self-assured dance track and a domestic argument that keeps getting worse.
The biggest versions are human and close to a minute long. The most-played one we found, @benandzara's "Well that escalated" from 30 Aug, credits @bouuhyachaka's as its inspiration. Her second take on 9 Sep was captioned "Ça va barder!!", French for roughly "this is about to kick off", which is why one template site also calls it the Ça va barder trend.
The AI part is the pet version. On 22 Sep 2026 two creators posted AI clips of a dog and a cat acting out the same row to the same song, the dog in 30 seconds and the cat in 29. At least one template site now builds its pet option on that dog clip.

The Bad Times trending song: who sings it and what it means
The sound is "Bad Times" by Imael Angel. Imael Angel is a stage name: Songfacts describes the artist as a Hungarian songwriter and energy healer who writes spiritual lyrics. People also search the name as Ismael Angel or Omael Angel; the creators' TikTok captions spell it Imael Angel. Four of the five posts we read, both human originals, the second take and the AI dog, use the same TikTok "original sound", posted by an account called Music POWER, rather than a sound listed under the song's own name.
We don't reprint lyrics, but the meaning is easy to give. It's a song about keeping your self-worth when things go badly. Songfacts reads it as quiet resilience and finding the strength to carry on. A French commentary on paroles.net reads the narrator as someone who won't be defined by rumours or other people's labels and simply keeps going, with healing as the real point behind the bravado. It's sung in English.
That's why it works as an argument soundtrack. The song is all calm self-belief, so miming it at a partner or a flatmate in the middle of a row turns it into the most passive-aggressive comeback possible.
Is Bad Times AI generated?
Partly. A person writes the lyrics and AI tools turn them into the finished track, so it's best described as AI-assisted rather than fully AI-generated. Songfacts says Imael Angel writes the lyrics and uses AI tools to develop them into full songs, and the act's Deezer bio, as quoted by The AI Musicpreneur, calls Imael Angel an artist created with artificial intelligence. That blog (12 Oct 2026) reports "Bad Times" among five AI tracks in the US iTunes Top 20 and files it as AI-assisted, because a person writes the words and AI builds the track.
The viral videos are a different matter. The human clips from @bouuhyachaka and @benandzara are real people filming themselves. The AI video is the dog and cat versions. So "Bad Times AI" can mean two things: the song's AI origins, or the AI pet clips. This page covers both.
How people make the Bad Times AI dog and cat videos
The human version needs no AI at all. Play the song, get someone to film you, and act out the row in time with it: head grab, hand on hip, stop palms, the stare. The comedy comes from the person behind the phone being the target.
The pet versions are made with AI video tools. One template site's guide sets out the general recipe: one clear photo of the animal, the original routine as a motion reference, a vertical frame, then a check of the paws, face and camera before adding the song, because swapping the music in afterwards doesn't guarantee the mouth matches it. Its main warning is about paws: the stop palms and head grabs have to become whole furry paws, with no human fingers.
At least three AI template sites had a Bad Times template when we checked on 16 Oct 2026. You upload one photo of yourself or your pet and they generate a version. Their lengths differ: one makes about 10 seconds for people and 15 for pets, another sells a 30-second version. None of the three advertised it as free.
Is the Bad Times trend over?
Slowing, not over, as of 16 Oct 2026. The human clips that started it are about eight weeks old and growing slowly: @benandzara's post was on 41.8M plays on 16 Oct, up from 41.6M the day before, and the AI dog went from 10.3M to 10.4M over the same day. The pet side got a second push, though: on 14 Oct the account behind the AI cat posted a Bad Times cat clip again, and it had 1.8M plays about two days later, three-quarters of what the first cat clip had built up in 24 days.
The song is holding up better than the clips. On Google Trends (worldwide, past three months), searches for "bad times song" were at 66 on 15 Oct. Apart from a one-day spike to 100 on 20 Sep, they have stayed between about 40 and 75 every day since 22 Sep, so the song is still close to its September level. Searches for "imael angel", which also count the artist's other hit, were at 48, about half their 5 Sep high. Searches for "bad times trend" itself are small but have held steady since 2 Oct.
For a remake that means late, not too late. The first AI versions went up 24 days before this read, so the pet cut is past its fastest phase, but the 14 Oct cat clip shows the feed will still take a new pet version, and anyone who saw the dog clip will get the joke straight away.

Want the Bad Times trend here?
We don't make Bad Times yet. The version we could consider is the AI dog clip, about 30 seconds long, with your own dog or cat in place of the dog: one clip with a dog as the star and no film or TV footage. The human originals run close to a minute, longer than the cuts we copy, and we will never make the baby versions. Tap Ask for it to send us the dog clip, and add your email to hear if it goes live. Asking doesn't guarantee it: we only add a trend after finding the exact clip and checking it.
Questions people ask
Is there a free Bad Times AI video generator?
Not on Jump on the Trend yet, and none of the three template pages we read on 16 Oct 2026 advertised it as free. What you can do free here is the preview on the similar live trends above: a still of you or your pet in the scene in under a minute, with no card. A full video of a live trend is 100 credits ($9.90).
Can I do the Bad Times trend with my dog or cat?
That's the AI version of the trend, and it isn't on the site yet: tap Ask for it above to request the dog clip. The closest pet trend live now is I Wanna Love You, where your whole pet takes the place of a singing cat.
Can I do the Bad Times trend with my own face?
The human version is people filming themselves, so you can simply film it: play the song and argue at whoever's holding the phone. We don't offer a face-swap version because the human clips run close to a minute. For a solo attitude clip you can put your face in now, try Bulin 47.
What song is the Bad Times trend?
"Bad Times" by Imael Angel (often searched as Ismael Angel), a deep house single released on 30 Mar 2026. It's in English, and it's about holding on to your self-worth in hard times.
Is Bad Times by Imael Angel an AI song?
Partly. The artist writes the lyrics and AI tools build the track, so it's classed as AI-assisted rather than fully AI-generated (Songfacts; The AI Musicpreneur, 12 Oct 2026). The viral human TikToks are real people; only the dog and cat versions are AI video.
What language is the Bad Times song in?
English. The creator behind the first big post captions some of hers in French, which is where the "Ça va barder" name comes from, but the song itself is sung in English.
Is the Bad Times trend over?
Not yet, but it's slowing. On 16 Oct 2026 the biggest clips were adding only small numbers of plays a day, while Google Trends searches for the song were still close to their September level. A new AI cat clip posted on 14 Oct reached 1.8M plays in about two days, so the pet version still has an audience.
How do I do the Bad Times trend?
Play "Bad Times" by Imael Angel, have a friend film you, and mime an argument at them in time with the song: head grab, hand on hip, stop palms, then a long stare. The AI pet version isn't on Jump on the Trend yet.
