How to do the AI video trend on TikTok with your own face

Pick the trend's clip, add one clear selfie and see a free preview of yourself in the scene in under a minute. If you like it, make the video (about 5–10 minutes, emailed to you) and post it on TikTok, adding the trend sound there if the clip doesn't already have it.

What "the AI video trend" actually is

It isn't one video. It's a format: a clip goes viral, then people put themselves, a friend or a pet into that exact clip with AI and post their version. On 15 Oct 2026 the clips being recast include a street freestyle under red lights (Bulin 47, posted 2 Oct 2026), two performers at one hanging mic in front of an orange wall (Hotel Lobby), a tiptoeing imp from an AI-made fake 1980s fantasy film (Rumpelstiltskin) and a pier scene from the music video for "Raindance" by Dave featuring Tems.

It's not the same as an AI photo trend, where a prompt turns one picture into a styled still. This guide is about the video kind: everything in the original clip stays, the moves, the camera, the setting and the sound, and only who is in it changes.

How to do it, step by step

Five steps. Most of the time is spent waiting for the video, and you don't have to watch it render.

  1. Pick a trend that's still rising

Start from the clip, not from a blank prompt: a remake works because people recognise the original. On the trends page, the trends moving this week are tagged Hot or Rising, and each trend page answers "Is it still growing?" (rising, peaking or slowing) with the date we read the numbers. Then pick by who's in it: Bulin 47 is just you, Hotel Lobby and Raindance are two people, and Rumpelstiltskin works solo or with a friend.

  2. Add a clear, front-facing photo

One person per photo, face fully visible, in good light, looking at the camera. No sunglasses, masks or heavy filters. A second photo with your head turned a little helps the likeness. On a two-person trend you add one photo per person, and the trend page says which photo plays which part. Everyone you upload must be an adult who said yes. More in the best photo for an AI face swap.

  3. See your free preview

Tap See yourself in it. In under a minute you get a still of you in the scene, free and with no card. If something's off, type a short change, like "remove the glasses", and the still is made again. On a duo you choose whose look the change is for.

  4. Make the video

A video is 100 credits, whether it's just you, two people or your pets, plus 50 for HD (1080p). Credits are only spent once the video is ready, and if it fails they come back automatically. It takes about 5–10 minutes, and we email you when it's ready, so you can close the page.

  5. Post it on TikTok

On your phone, tap Share to send the video to TikTok, or Save video and upload it from your camera roll. Copy caption gives you a caption with the trend's hashtag. Your video keeps the clip's own sound. If the trend's TikTok sound is different, add it in TikTok's editor and turn the original audio down. Rumpelstiltskin is the one where this matters: the clip has film music, and most remakes post with Riff Raff's "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz". Don't crop wide clips to fit: Hotel Lobby, Rumpelstiltskin and Raindance are wide, and the most-viewed remake of each that we track is wide too.

STILL SPREADINGBulin 47 was on day 14 on 15 Oct 2026, with new versions still spreading to Reels and Shorts. One photo puts you in the freestyler's spot: the red lights, the speaker, the crowd filming on their phones. See yourself in Bulin 47 · free

What putting your face in a video actually changes

This is a face swap. Your face, hair, beard and your own glasses (or none) come from your photo. The body, build, tattoos, clothes, jewellery, every move, the camera, the light and the sound stay exactly as they are in the original. On a pet trend the whole animal is swapped.

That's why it works for the trend. People want to see you doing the exact thing the original did, so it reads at a glance. It also means you don't need to dance, freestyle or own a costume: the Rumpelstiltskin imp keeps his velvet tailcoat, bow tie and pointed shoes, and on Raindance the green dress stays, so nobody has to wear green.

So yes, it puts your face on another body. What it doesn't do is change that body, the outfit or the moves to match yours. The likeness is strongest in close, front-on shots and softer in wide or side-on ones: it looks like you, not a perfect copy.

Four trends to start with, and who to put in them

Each one shows a different part of the method. The numbers and stage on each row come live from its trend page.

  1. Bulin 47↗ Rising ≈380M views · 1 person · 15s The simplest start: one photo, 15 seconds, already vertical, and the beat and freestyle are in the clip, so there's nothing to add in TikTok. Cast yourself, the friend who always grabs the aux, or your dad. See yourself in it
  2. Hotel Lobby ≈137M views · 2 people · 15s Two people trading bars at one hanging mic. Photo 1 takes the left role, photo 2 the right, and you don't need to be in the same room. Its AI wave began in mid-September, so it's one of the older trends here: make it soon. See yourself in it
  3. Rumpelstiltskin Dance↗ Rising ≈57M views · 1–2 people · 9s Nine seconds of creep, shush, grin and tiptoe dance. Go solo as the imp or bring a friend as the horrified maiden. It's the one where you add the trend sound in TikTok. See yourself in it
  4. Raindance ≈200M views · 2 people · 28s The longest and most story-like at 28 seconds: one of you on the pier looks back, the other walks up in the green dress. For a partner, a best friend doing the dramatic version, or your parents' anniversary. See yourself in it

When to post: while the trend is still rising

These waves move in days. The Bulin 47 freestyle went up on 2 Oct 2026, the first widely shared AI swap (a cat) followed on 6 Oct and the most-copied own-face version on 8 Oct. Rumpelstiltskin was slower to start: a month from the AI film on 27 Aug 2026 to the earliest TikTok dance edit we found on 27 Sep, then about ten days to the AI recasts.

TikTok trends in general are short-lived. A Publicis Groupe APAC study across seven markets, reported on 13 Apr 2026, found that nearly half of TikTok trends disappear within five days and only a small minority stay relevant beyond two weeks. Our own read of 23 AI trends points the same way: search peaked a median of 5 days after the first AI post and fell below half 4 days after the peak (how long TikTok trends last).

So check the stage before you make anything. If a trend is rising or peaking, make it now and post it while people still recognise the clip. If it's slowing, it still works as a joke for your friends; it just won't ride the wave. See every trend with its stage.

Dates from each trend page's timeline and its most-viewed remakes, read 15 Oct 2026. Hotel Lobby shows the gap can be years: the original is from 2022 and the AI wave came in September 2026. The stage is the label each trend page showed on 15 Oct, and it can lag search: Hotel Lobby's searches were already below a tenth of their 26 Sep peak by 11 Oct. How long TikTok trends last has the search side.

Doing it by hand instead

You can do all of this yourself. In general terms, the manual route looks like this:

Or skip the setup

We do that work once for each trend before it goes live: the clean clip, the cut, which person each photo replaces and what stays. You add a photo, see the free preview, and pay only when the video is ready. If the clip you want isn't here yet, suggest it with the link and we'll look at it.

QUESTIONS

Questions people ask

Is the AI video trend free to do?

The preview is free: you see a still of yourself in the scene before you pay anything. The video is 100 credits, whether it's just you, two people or your pets, plus 50 for HD. Credits come in packs of 100 for $9.90 or 300 for $24.90, with no subscription needed, and they're only spent once your video is ready.

How long does it take?

The free preview takes under a minute. The full video takes about 5–10 minutes, and we email you when it's ready.

Can I do it with a friend who isn't with me?

Yes. Pick a two-person trend like Hotel Lobby or Raindance and add one photo per person. You don't need to be together, and everyone in it must be an adult who said yes. More in AI trends to do with friends.

How do I put my face on another body in a video?

That's exactly what this does: your face, hair and glasses on the person in the clip, with their body, clothes and moves. Pick a trend, add a front-facing photo and check the free preview first. It doesn't change the body or outfit to match yours.

Which app is everyone using for the AI video trend?

There isn't one. The remakes in your feed come from a mix of AI video apps, remake sites and editing templates. They all start the same way: the original clip plus a photo of a new face. Here the clip is ready, and you see a free preview before you pay.

Why doesn't my video have the TikTok trend sound?

Your video keeps the original clip's own audio, which on most trends is the trend sound. When the TikTok sound is different, as with Rumpelstiltskin, add it in TikTok when you post.

Can I post it on Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts too?

Yes. It's an ordinary video file, so you can post the same file to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. If the trend sound isn't in the clip, add it in each app.

Can I put my face into any TikTok, not just these?

Not straight away. Suggest the video with its TikTok, Reel or Short link. We look at every suggestion, and new trends go live once we've checked them.

What happens to my photo?

It stays private, is never used for training, and is deleted with your video after 30 days. More in is AI face swap safe?
