What is the Long Hair AI trend?
The AI long hair video is the clip where you run a hand through your hair and it just keeps coming: it grows out from the roots and tumbles past your shoulders and down your back in a couple of seconds, while your face, and your hair's own colour, stay exactly as they are. Then a flip over the shoulder and a laugh. Here you add one photo and get a free preview still in about a minute: you on a golden-hour street with your own hair, hand raised, ready to run it through. The 5-second video, in 1080p, is 100 credits ($9.90), and that's where the hair grows.
Wanting to see yourself with long hair is older than AI video. A Snapchat short-to-long hairstyles lens had its own YouTube how-to on 8 Apr 2021, and in April 2023 a 'long hair filter trend' went round TikTok, with how-tos on YouTube from 11 Apr 2023 (the most watched has 65,469 views on 18 Oct 2026) and a CapCut version by October 2023. What's new is the moving version made from a single photo. Vidu sells it as an AI Long Hair Video Generator, and its sample, a woman on a dusk street whose bob puffs up and drops into long straight hair in four seconds, has files dated 30 Sep 2025. PixVerse has a 'Long Hair Magic' effect, which fal lists among its v5.5 effects; pxz.ai sells a Long Hair Magic with slow or snappy growth and an exaggerated comedy setting; insMind, Pollo and FlexClip sell it as Hair Growth. On 18 Oct 2026 Google finished 'ai long hair' and 'long hair ai' ten ways each, with generator, filter, free, men and boy among them.
Ours keeps to the one move and two lengths: Long and flowing, down to the waist, and Down to the floor, the comic version where it pools at your feet. Your face, eyebrows, beard and glasses come from your photo and don't change, and neither do your hair's colour, hairline or parting; only the length does. It's one of our few templates where your hair is meant to change, and it's a bit of fun, not a forecast: it can't tell you how your hair would really grow, it isn't a hair-growth treatment, and it isn't a live camera filter. The video comes with a silky whoosh, a gasp, a laugh and street sound, and no music.
Is the Long Hair trend still growing?
Evergreen rather than rising. The long hair filter has been a camera-filter trend since at least April 2023, and the AI video version's earliest effect-site pages are dated around September 2025, with no single viral wave behind it. The steady demand is search: on 18 Oct 2026 Google finished 'ai long hair' and 'long hair ai' ten ways each, and at least six AI video sites sell the effect.
How to do the Long Hair trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Long Hair mixes
- Long and flowing: as the hand runs down, the hair grows into long, glossy, healthy hair falling to the waist, soft natural waves, full and swinging, in the hair's own colour and with its own parting
- Down to the floor: the comic, over-the-top version; the hair keeps pouring out past the waist and knees all the way to the ground, the camera easing back to show the whole length pooling on the street around their feet, in the hair's own colour, and they burst out laughing at how much there is
Photo tips for Long Hair
- One clear photo of you, face to the camera and well lit, from the chest up, with your hair loose and fully in view.
- Short or shoulder-length hair shows the change best; if yours is already long, it gets even longer.
- Your colour and parting stay. On a shaved or bald head, the new hair has no colour to copy, so results vary more.
- Glasses stay if you wear them in the photo; take off sunglasses, hats, headbands and hair ties.
- One person in the photo. Your clothes stay as they are.
Who to cast
- You (the classic)
- The friend with the buzz cut who always said they'd grow it out
- Your short-haired partner, to see the rock-star version

Which app makes the Long Hair AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Long Hair?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the AI long hair filter?
A short AI video where you run a hand through your hair and it grows down past your shoulders to your waist in a couple of seconds, while your face stays yours. Here it's made from one photo, in Long and flowing or Down to the floor.
Is the AI long hair filter free?
The preview is free: add a photo and see a still of yourself, hand in your hair and ready, in about a minute, with no card or account. The 5-second video with the hair growing is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p.
Why doesn't my preview show the long hair?
The preview is the first frame of the video, the 'before': you with your own hair. The length arrives in the video, a second or so in, which is the moment people post.
Will it change my face or hair colour?
No. Your face, eyebrows, beard and glasses stay as they are in your photo, and so do your hair colour, hairline and parting. Only the length changes. For a new colour, try our hair dye filter; for curls, curly hair.
Does it work for men and very short hair?
Yes, and short hair shows it best: a crop or a buzz cut grows out into long, flowing hair. On a fully shaved or bald head there's no colour to copy, so results vary more.
My hair is already long. Will it work?
Yes, it just gets longer, down to the waist or the floor, so the change is smaller. Short and shoulder-length hair shows it most.
Can I use it to see how I'd look if I grew my hair out?
As a bit of fun, yes; as a forecast, no. How your hair really grows depends on its texture, thickness and how it's cut along the way. It isn't a hair-growth product either.
Is it a live camera filter like TikTok, Snapchat or Instagram?
No. It makes a new 5-second video from one photo. It can't change a video you've already filmed or work through your camera live.
How long is the video, and does it have music?
5 seconds. It comes with a silky whoosh as the hair pours down, a gasp, a laugh and street sound, and no music, so add your own sound in TikTok when you post.
Can I do it with a friend or my pet?
It's one person per video, from your own photo, and there's no pet version yet. For two of you, make one each.
What photo works best?
One sharp photo of you facing the camera, chest up, well lit, hair loose and fully in view, with no hat, headband or sunglasses. More tips are in our photo guide.
Is my photo kept?
For 30 days, then it's deleted automatically, and it's never used to train AI. You can delete everything sooner with Delete my data on Your videos; the details are in our safety guide.
