What is the La Calabaza AI trend?
La Calabaza is the AI clip of three kittens dancing at the side of a dark road. A pale-ginger kitten, a white one in a black cowboy hat and a black-and-white one in round glasses stand up on their hind legs, throw their paws out wide and shuffle in perfect sync to a guaracha track that keeps repeating "la calabaza" ("the pumpkin"). Halfway through they turn round to show their tails, then walk up to the camera. It runs 14 seconds, in one take.
It was posted on TikTok on 27 August 2026 by @meowtakeover, an account that posts AI-made kittens almost daily, captioned in Arabic as the Jeddah cats' trip to the sea. When we read it on 18 October it had 29.0 million plays, 4.1 million likes and 2.3 million shares. The sound is "LA CALABAZA (TINIEBLA Edit)" by Pumpky, an independent producer. Mexican outlets including El Informador, Infobae and TV Azteca Puebla covered the trend in mid-September, and Mundo Ejecutivo wrote it up as a marketing lesson.
Most La Calabaza posts drop green-screen cutouts of the same three kittens onto new backgrounds. The versions this page is about recast them instead. On 9 September @salchihermanosoficial posted three dachshunds doing the routine on the same road, in a flat cap, the cowboy hat and a dapple coat, and it passed the original with 54.4 million plays. Pet accounts followed with kittens in a bathroom, a living room and a kitchen, and pugs on a night beach and in an airport, all with the same paws-out pose and the same turn at nine seconds.
On Jump on the Trend you add one photo of each of three pets. We keep the night road, the cowboy hat, the glasses and the timing, and put your animals in the kittens' places. You see a free still preview first, then get the 14-second clip with the sound.
The song and the original
The track is "LA CALABAZA (TINIEBLA Edit)" by Pumpky, an independent producer who has posted songs made in FL Studio on TikTok since 2024, mixing Latin rhythms, especially guaracha, the fast, percussive club style. "La calabaza" means "the pumpkin". El Informador and TV Azteca Puebla say the phrase is a play on his own name, Pumpky, and it's the hook that repeats over the beat. There is no story to follow: the joke is a bouncing party beat chanting a vegetable while three kittens in a cowboy hat and glasses dance like a backing crew. It also lands neatly in pumpkin season, which is why it came back in October.
Is the La Calabaza trend still growing?
About 140M views across TikTok (likely 110M–500M), as of 18 Oct 2026. Estimated from the top posts.
Peaked, with a Halloween second wind. When we read it on 18 Oct 2026 the original was seven weeks old and the dachshund recast (54.4M) had passed it (29.0M); both added only about 0.1M plays since 17 Oct, so they are close to flat. The press wave was in mid-September, and the own-pet recasts we found date from 9 to 27 September. In October the pumpkin song is back in Halloween edits of the kittens, so the sound is still being used even if the original clip isn't growing fast.
How to do the La Calabaza trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: save the clip, trim it to the part people remake, give it and a photo to a video model that takes a reference image, check every shot for the original person, then put the sound back in an editor.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview, then make the video. It keeps the clip’s own sound, and you pay only when it’s ready.

La Calabaza FAQ
Is there a free La Calabaza AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the La Calabaza scene free. The full video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the La Calabaza AI video?
Creators use video models that take a reference photo. This page runs one for you, checks the faces and keeps the original sound, so there is nothing to download or edit.
How many photos do I need for La Calabaza?
One clear photo per person you swap in. This trend has room for 3. Add up to 3 photos of each person for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
How do I make my pets do La Calabaza?
Add one clear photo of each of your three pets, check the free still preview, then press Make. You get the 14-second clip with your animals on the night road, the middle one in the cowboy hat and the right one in the glasses, with the sound.
What does "la calabaza" mean?
It's Spanish for "the pumpkin". The producer behind the track calls himself Pumpky, and the phrase plays on his name.
Who made the original La Calabaza video?
The TikTok account @meowtakeover, which posts AI-made kittens, posted it on 27 August 2026. The music is Pumpky's "LA CALABAZA (TINIEBLA Edit)".
Does it work with dogs?
Yes. The biggest version of all is three dachshunds on the same road (54.4M plays). Pugs, kittens and mixed crews work too: any animal with a face.
I only have one pet. Can I still do it?
This one needs three photos, one per spot. Use your pet plus two friends' or family pets: each photo becomes one dancer.
Why is there a puddle under the kittens?
A dark wet patch appears on the asphalt under the kittens about seven seconds in, and many recasts keep it. We keep it too, since it's part of the clip people recognise.
Is this the green-screen kittens trend?
It's the same clip. Most La Calabaza posts paste a cutout of the original kittens onto a new background. Here it's the other way round: the road stays and your own pets replace the kittens.
Will my video have the La Calabaza sound?
Yes. Your video keeps the clip's own audio, Pumpky's track, all the way through.
What photos work best?
One pet per photo, the whole animal if you can, facing the camera in good light. The clip shows each pet from ears to paws, so coat colour and markings matter. Photo 1 goes on the left, photo 2 in the middle with the hat, photo 3 on the right with the glasses.
