What is the Chibi Figure AI trend?
The chibi AI trend turns your photo into a big-head, tiny-body version of you: your own face, hair and outfit, squashed into a cute 3D figure about two heads tall. Here you add one photo and get three looks: the chibi as a vinyl collectible in a window box, inside a capsule toy held between two fingers, and the Instagram chibi crew (the real you with tiny chibi copies around you and white doodles). Chibi is Japanese slang for small or short, and in anime and toys it means exactly this look: a compact body, an oversized head and big eyes.
It has come in two waves, each a few weeks after a big ChatGPT image update. The first followed ChatGPT's new image generator of 25 Mar 2025: by our read of Google Trends, worldwide searches for "chibi ai" jumped in the week of 30 Mar 2025, most of all in Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. On 21 Apr 2025 TechRadar called the chibi figure the new AI trend, with a ChatGPT prompt that put a tiny chibi you inside a glass capsule held between two fingers, and how-tos for it went up on YouTube from 19 Apr, one of them pitched as the smaller, cuter follow-up to the boxed action figure. The second wave came a year later, after ChatGPT Images 2.0 arrived on 21 Apr 2026. From 4 May 2026 YouTube channels, most of them Indian, taught an "Instagram viral chibi" edit, the real you surrounded by little 3D chibi copies and hand-drawn doodles, and the two most-watched we found had 537,205 and 347,569 views when we read them on 18 Oct 2026. Digit wrote on 11 May 2026 that Instagram was flooded with chibi-style images; searches peaked in the week of 10 May 2026, highest in Vietnam, India and South Korea.
Here you add one clear photo of yourself and see a free watermarked preview of the window-box figure first. The full set is three photos for 15 credits (5 a look), charged only for the photos that pass our face check. Every chibi keeps your face, hair, facial hair and glasses and wears a mini version of your outfit, and in the Chibi Crew look the real you stays exactly as in your photo. The chibi is always a cute toy version of an adult, never a child, and no real toy brand appears on any box. Any of the three can become a 5-second video with Make it move. Rather be a realistic boxed toy? That's AI Action Figure; for a whole tiny world, Miniature World.
Is the Chibi Figure trend still growing?
Past its peak, with a steady tail. On our read of Google Trends on 18 Oct 2026, worldwide weekly searches for "chibi ai" were at 26 and 28 in the weeks of 4 and 11 Oct 2026, against 100 in the week of 10 May 2026. That's a little under where they sat through late 2025 (mostly 30 to 50), because chibi is a style people keep searching for between waves, not a one-off. It's a smaller search than the action figure: in a direct comparison the chibi peak week was about a twentieth of the action figure's April 2025 peak week. Zooop's chibi template showed 240 uses on 18 Oct 2026. Google still completes "instagram viral chibi ai trend" and "trending chibi ai photo prompt" the same day. Both waves came within weeks of a big ChatGPT image update (March 2025, April 2026), so the next update is the moment to watch.
The Chibi Figure looks
One make gives you 3 photos, one in each look:
- Window Box: A photoreal product photo of a big-head chibi vinyl collectible of the person in the photo, standing inside an open-front window box on a white shelf. The figure is about 10 cm tall: an oversized head about as tall as its tiny rounded body, with the person's own face shape, eyes, brows, smile, skin tone, hairstyle, facial hair and glasses, simplified in smooth glossy vinyl, and slightly enlarged eyes that keep their real shape and colour. It wears a miniature version of the outfit from the photo and gives a cheerful little wave. The box has a printed pastel backer with soft clouds and small stars behind the figure, a clear plastic front window, a rounded top flap, and two short words printed across the top: SERIES 1. No other words, no numbers, no logos. Soft studio light, a gentle highlight on the window, the whole box in frame against a blurred pastel background.
- Capsule Toy: A photoreal close-up of a round, clear capsule toy, the two-part kind that comes out of a coin-operated toy machine, held between a thumb and forefinger in front of a softly blurred cafe window. Inside the capsule stands a tiny chibi figure of the person in the photo, full body, about 4 cm tall, with an oversized head on a small rounded body, the person's own face, hairstyle, facial hair and glasses, in a miniature version of the outfit from the photo, making a little peace sign. The bottom half of the capsule is pastel mint, the top half crystal clear with a soft reflection. No text or logos anywhere. Warm soft daylight, shallow depth of field, crisp focus on the figure inside the capsule, one natural-looking hand with five fingers.
- Chibi Crew: The person from the photo kept exactly as they are in it, photoreal and unchanged (same face, pose, clothes and background), with warm, soft, clean light. Around them are four tiny 3D chibi versions of the same person in the same outfit, each with an oversized head and a glossy, cute 3D look, about a fifth of the real person's height: one jumping for joy, one waving, one sitting on their shoulder holding a tiny drink, one peeking out from behind their arm. Over the whole picture, hand-drawn white doodles: a white sticker-style outline traced around the real person, little stars, hearts, sparkles and motion lines, and two short handwritten words in a casual white doodle font, hi! and smile. Soft pastel colour tone, crisp focus, the doodles never covering the real person's face.
The Chibi Figure AI prompt
Want to do it yourself? Paste this into any image model that accepts your photo (Gemini, ChatGPT and others), with a clear, front-facing photo attached:
Create a new 4:5 photograph of the person in my uploaded photo: A photoreal product photo of a big-head chibi vinyl collectible of the person in the photo, standing inside an open-front window box on a white shelf. Style: Every look features the same 3D chibi version of the person: an oversized head about as tall as the tiny rounded body, simple stubby hands and feet, smooth glossy vinyl with soft painted shading, and the person's own adult features simplified (eye shape, brows, nose, smile, skin tone, hairstyle, facial hair, glasses), with slightly enlarged eyes that keep their real eye shape and colour. Photographed like a designer-toy product shot: soft, clean, warm light, gentle highlights on the vinyl, a bright pastel palette, crisp focus on the chibi and a softly blurred background.. Keep their face exactly as in the photo (same features, skin tone and hair), natural skin, no filter, no extra people.
For the other looks, swap the scene for one from the list above. If the face drifts, add a second photo from another angle and ask it to keep the face exactly as in the photos.
How to do the Chibi Figure trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: paste the prompt above with your photo, regenerate until the face looks like you, then repeat for each look.
Here, in one click: add your photo, press Make, and get all 3 looks at once, each checked before delivery. You pay only for the photos that come out right, and any of them can become a 5-second video with “Make it move”.
Photo tips for Chibi Figure
- One clear, well-lit photo of just you, face to the camera: the chibi keeps your eyes, brows and smile, so they need to be easy to see.
- Waist up or full length works best. Your outfit comes along in miniature, so a bright colour or a signature piece (a hat, a scarf, your glasses) makes the chibi more you.
- For Chibi Crew your photo is kept as it is, background and all, so pick one you'd happily post: a sunny street, a cafe, a nice wall.
- Adults only: a childhood photo won't work and isn't allowed.
Who to cast
- You (the classic)
- Your best friend, as a birthday sticker set, with their OK
- Your partner, boxed as your favourite collectible, with their OK
- The anime fan in the group chat
Chibi Figure FAQ
Is the Chibi Figure AI photo free?
You can see a free, watermarked preview of yourself first. The full set is 3 photos (Window Box, Capsule Toy, Chibi Crew) for 15 credits, about $1.40 to $2, charged only for photos that come out right.
What is the Chibi Figure AI prompt?
It's on this page under "The prompt": copy it into any image model that accepts your photo. Or press Make here, and we run it on your photo, check the face and give you every look at once.
Can I turn my Chibi Figure photo into a video?
Yes. Press "Make it move" under any photo for a 5-second video of it (50 credits).
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted after 30 days.
What does chibi mean?
Chibi is Japanese slang for small or short. In anime, toys and stickers it means a tiny figure with exaggerated features: a compact body, an oversized head and large eyes.
What is the Instagram viral chibi AI trend?
The May 2026 version: the real you, unchanged, with several tiny 3D chibi copies of yourself jumping, waving and sitting around you, a white outline and hand-drawn doodles on top. Here it's the Chibi Crew look.
How do I do the chibi AI trend on ChatGPT?
Upload one clear photo, describe the chibi you want (a big-head figure in a box, in a capsule, or chibi copies around you) and ask it to keep your face, hair and outfit, then retry until it looks like you. The prompt on this page is the window-box version to paste in.
Can I make the chibi trend with Gemini?
Yes: Google completes "chibi gemini prompt" and "gemini chibi sticker prompt" (18 Oct 2026), and the same prompts work in either chatbot. Here you skip the prompt: one photo gives you all three looks.
How do I make chibi stickers of myself?
How-tos from July 2025 turned one photo into a set of chibi WhatsApp stickers with ChatGPT. We don't make sticker sheets: a flat sheet of small cartoon faces is the hardest place to keep a likeness. The window box, the capsule toy and the chibi crew are the three looks here.
Can I make a chibi with my partner or my pet?
This template makes one person per photo, so make one each and post them together; for two people in one picture, try Instant Photo Together. It doesn't do pets: for your pet, try Pet Halloween Portrait.
Is a chibi figure the same as the AI action figure?
No. The action figure (April 2025) is a realistic plastic you in a blister pack with your everyday things; the chibi is a big-head, tiny-body cute version. Both are templates here: AI Action Figure and Chibi Figure.
Is the chibi AI trend over?
Its last wave peaked in the week of 10 May 2026, and on 18 Oct 2026 weekly searches were at about a quarter of that peak, a little under the level they held between waves in 2025. It's a long-running style more than a finished trend.
Is this an official toy, or can I order a real one?
Neither. It's an original chibi look, not affiliated with any toy or collectible brand, and we make photos, not physical figures. Real chibi figures cost from $9.99 to well over $100, according to TechRadar in April 2025.
