What is the Gas Station Dance AI trend?

The Gas Station Dance is a 10-second AI video of you on an empty roadside gas station forecourt at sunset: you dance loose and easy on the open tarmac, throw both arms up at the big orange sky, then take the camera for a grinning walking selfie. Add one photo, see a free preview still of yourself on the forecourt in about a minute, then make the video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). Or pick You three and add a photo each for the road-trip crew: one dancing, one on the selfie, one climbing out of the car.

It copies the feel of one real phone video. On 1 Jul 2024 the Instagram blogger @adelveigel posted a reel of a road-trip stop: three friends pull into a roadside gas station in low evening light, one dances alone on the empty tarmac and throws both arms up, the camera swings round to a second grinning into a selfie, and the third climbs out of a grey car and dances between the cars, wind in her hair. The song from the car is "Stay with Me" by the Romanian act Akcent, from 2009. A repost reached TikTok on 23 Sep 2026, CapCut templates that put you into the reel followed the next day, and AI versions with new faces, many of them famous, became what Italy's Sky TG24 called the trend of the moment on 2 Oct 2026.

Ours isn't the reel with the faces swapped. It's a new, generated scene in one continuous shot that keeps what makes it work, a dull stop on a long drive turning into a music video for a few seconds, with your own face, hair and clothes. The forecourt is unbranded, the original three people aren't in it, and the sound is a wordless beat with wind, so add Akcent's song in TikTok when you post it. On Google, "gas station dance" completes to "gas station dance ai", "gas station dance trend" and "gas station dance song" (read 18 Oct 2026): this page answers all three.

The song and the original

The trend's song is "Stay with Me" by Akcent (2009), a Romanian dance-pop single produced by Adrian Sînă and released in several countries through the US label Ultra Records. In the original reel it plays out of the car, which is why so many people search for it by describing the video ("gas station trend song"). Our video comes with its own wordless beat and wind instead, so add the song from TikTok's sound library when you post. We don't reprint the words; licensed lyric sites have them.

Is the Gas Station Dance trend still growing?

Past its peak and fading, but still searched. Worldwide searches for the song peaked on 27 Sep 2026 and for "gas station dance" on 1 Oct; by 15 Oct they were at about a seventh and a quarter of those peaks (Google Trends, read 16 Oct 2026). On 18 Oct Google still completes "gas station dance" to "ai", "ai video" and "ai generator", and at least nine sites offer a generator or a prompt guide for it.

How to do the Gas Station Dance trend: by hand or in one click

By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.

Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.

Gas Station Dance mixes

  • You
  • You three: Three friends version, like the road-trip original: the same forecourt at sunset with a parked grey hatchback on the right, its driver's door open. The first person dances in the centre on the open tarmac, the second stands on the left a step nearer the camera holding a phone out at arm's length for a selfie, and the third is climbing out of the car on the right. Over the clip: the dancer sways and throws both arms up at the sky; the camera drifts left to the second person grinning and waving into their selfie; then it swings right as the third steps fully out of the car, wind in their hair, looks straight into the lens with a big smile and does a short loose dance beside the car. All three are adults, each keeps their own face and clothes, nobody swaps places, and nobody else is there.

Photo tips for Gas Station Dance

  • One clear, front-facing photo per person, well lit, chest up or closer: the selfie part is close, so the face needs to be sharp.
  • Your outfit stays: a full-length or half-length photo shows the clothes you'll dance in.
  • If you wear glasses, keep them on for the photo; take off sunglasses and hats.
  • For You three, add the photos in this order: the dancer, the friend with the selfie, the friend climbing out of the car.
  • Adults only: your own photo, or a friend's who said yes, never a child's.

Who to cast

  • You (the classic)
  • Your road-trip crew of three
  • Your partner and your best friend
  • The friend who always dances at petrol stops

What is the gas station dance trend?

A recast of a 2024 Instagram road-trip reel: three friends stop at a roadside gas station at sunset, one dances on the empty tarmac and throws both arms up, one grins into a selfie and one climbs out of the car, to Akcent's "Stay with Me". It came back on TikTok in late September 2026, then as AI versions with new faces.

Is the Gas Station Dance AI video free?

The preview is free: add a photo and see a still of yourself on the sunset forecourt in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. How do I make the gas station dance AI video?

1. Pick You, or You three for the road-trip crew. 2. Add one clear, front-facing photo per person (for You three: the dancer, the friend with the selfie, then the friend in the car). 3. Check the free preview still. 4. Make the video. No prompt, no reference clip and no editing app: the forecourt, the moves, the selfie and the sound are built in. 5. Post it with Akcent's "Stay with Me" from TikTok's sound library.

What happens in the 10 seconds?

One continuous phone shot. For about four seconds you dance loose and easy on the empty forecourt and throw both arms up at the sunset. Then you stride to the camera and take it, so it turns into a close walking selfie, grinning and waving with the canopy lights sliding past, and you finish with a pan across the orange sky and back to your smile. In You three, the camera drifts from the dancer to the friend on the selfie and over to the friend climbing out of the car, who dances beside it.

What song is used in the gas station trend?

"Stay with Me" by Akcent, a Romanian dance-pop act, from 2009. Our video has its own wordless beat and wind instead of the song, so add it in TikTok when you post.

Can I do it with my friends?

Yes: pick You three and add a photo for each of you, like the original crew of three. Each keeps their own face and clothes. It's adults only, and only with the friends' yes.

Is it the original video with my face on it?

No. It's a new scene, generated from your photo: an unbranded forecourt at sunset in one continuous shot, with none of the original three people in it. The original reel runs about 17.6 seconds (MakeViral's measure); ours keeps its mood and moments in 10 seconds.

Will it still look like me?

That's the aim: your face, hair, glasses and clothes come from your photo, and the walking selfie is close, so use a sharp, well-lit photo. Every take is new, so watch yours before you post it.

Who is in the original gas station dance video?

Three adults on a road trip: the Instagram blogger who posted it, @adelveigel, her then fiancé and a friend. You don't need them or any famous face: the point of the trend is putting you and your friends in the scene.

Is it the gas station scene from Magic Mike XXL?

No. Some searches for a gas station dance are for the 2015 film's scene at a convenience store. The trend is the 2024 road-trip reel set to Akcent.

What's the gas station trend prompt?

Other sites' prompts describe an empty, unbranded forecourt at dusk with warm canopy lights, a loose dance and a selfie or a car arrival. Here you don't write one: add a photo and the scene is written for you.
