What is the Popstar AI trend?
The Popstar AI trend puts a new face on the hallway walk from the music video for DJ Khaled's "Popstar" featuring Drake. In 12 seconds the star of the video walks at the camera through a mansion, a big champagne bottle swinging from one hand, rapping into the lens with his arms spread wide while a bald, bearded bodyguard in a black SECURITY T-shirt gets up from his chair and follows close behind. Then he turns to a glass balcony over the atrium and looks back over his shoulder. Here you add one selfie, see a free preview still of yourself in the hallway, then get the video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90), with the song in sync.
The joke is built into the original. In the official video, released on 3 September 2020, Drake spends the first minutes on video calls with DJ Khaled, who keeps asking him to show up for the shoot, then hands the lead to Justin Bieber, who mouths the whole song through an all-day party at a mansion. Six years later, AI video apps made it easy to hand the lead to anyone. From the end of September 2026 people started putting their own face, a footballer, a TV character or Drake himself into that walk; on 2 October Neymar posted his own AI version on Instagram, captioned "Lil Ney". We lined the AI versions up against the official video by their sound: every one we found starts at the top of the hallway shot, 2:54 into the video, give or take a second.
Most template versions stop where the hallway does, after about 12 seconds, as the turn to the balcony finishes. The longer, 27 to 30-second versions keep going down a glass staircase past a pop-art wall of the star's own face, into the pool party. Ours is the 12-second hallway, the part every version shares. We swap your face, facial hair, hair and your own glasses (or none) into the original footage; everything else stays as it was filmed: the paisley silk shirt, the pearls, the tattoos, the bottle and the bodyguard behind you.
The song and the original
"Popstar" is a 2020 single by DJ Khaled featuring Drake, produced by OZ, David & Eli and DJ Khaled for We the Best, OVO Sound and Epic. It's a mid-tempo boast: Drake casts himself as the pop star of his generation, so famous that the attention follows him everywhere, and name-drops the music-business friends who prove it. The song went 4x platinum in the US. The video turns the boast into a gag: the man who wrote the verse is too busy to appear, so another star mouths it for him, which is exactly the swap the AI trend plays with. The hallway walk sits early in the song, and the song has explicit lyrics. Your video keeps the official video's own sound for those 12 seconds, so it's ready to post; you can also add the song from TikTok's own library when you post.
Is the Popstar trend still growing?
About 1.1M views across TikTok, Reels, Shorts (likely 1.0M–5.0M), as of 18 Oct 2026. Estimated from the top posts.
Early and small: on 18 Oct 2026 the most-played AI versions we could read were a repost of Neymar's (about 706K plays) and a Drake version (about 332K), new template versions were still going up on 12-14 Oct, and a template site counted #popstartrend at 23 videos on 13 Oct. Search is only starting: Google suggests "popstar ai" and YouTube suggests "popstar justin bieber ai".
How to do the Popstar trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: save the clip, trim it to the part people remake, give it and a photo to a video model that takes a reference image, check every shot for the original person, then put the sound back in an editor.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview, then make the video. It keeps the clip’s own sound, and you pay only when it’s ready.
Photo tips for Popstar
- One person, face clear and looking roughly at the camera: you face the lens for most of the walk, from about 1.5 s to 9 s.
- Your hair and your glasses (or none) come from your photo, so show them the way you want them in the video.
- Good, even light and nothing in front of your face. The shirt, the pearls, the tattoos and the bottle stay as in the clip.
Who to cast
- Yourself, the popstar you always knew you were
- The friend who walks into every party like it's their music video
- Your boss, your dad or anyone you'd never picture with a bodyguard

What is the Popstar AI trend?
It's the 12-second hallway walk from the video for DJ Khaled's "Popstar" featuring Drake (2020), remade with a new face in the lead: the star walks at the camera with a champagne bottle, raps with his arms wide while his bodyguard follows, then turns to the glass balcony. AI versions started at the end of September 2026.
Is this the Justin Bieber Popstar AI video?
Yes. In the official video Justin Bieber plays the lead, standing in for Drake, and the trend replaces him with someone else. Here that someone is you: we put your face on the man walking at the camera, and he isn't in your video.
Is this the Neymar "Lil Ney" Popstar video?
It's the same scene. Neymar posted an AI version with himself in the lead on Instagram on 2 Oct 2026, captioned "Lil Ney" (CNN Brasil covered it that day). Ours puts your own face in the hallway walk, with a free preview first.
Why doesn't my video have the staircase, the pop-art painting and the pool party?
Those come after the hallway in the 27 to 30-second versions. The template versions, and the part every version shares, are the 12-second hallway walk, which is what we make. The longer cut also shows a pop-art wall of the original star's face, which a face swap can't reliably replace.
Do I keep the bodyguard and the champagne bottle?
Yes. Only the lead changes. The bald, bearded bodyguard in the SECURITY T-shirt stays exactly as he is, and so do the bottle, the paisley silk shirt, the pearls and the tattoos from the clip.
What song is the Popstar AI trend?
"Popstar" by DJ Khaled featuring Drake, from 2020. Your video keeps the official video's own sound for those 12 seconds. The song has explicit lyrics.

Is the Popstar AI trend over?
No. On 18 Oct 2026 it was early and small: new template versions were still being posted in mid-October and searches for "popstar ai" were just starting.
