It isn't one viral post. Salsa is a partner dance that grew out of Cuban son, mambo, cha-cha-chá and rumba, and the name was popularised in New York in the 1960s and 1970s. AI versions go back a few years: the earliest we found is from 8 Jun 2023, when the Salsa Vida channel posted a YouTube Short of a salsa couple with one dancer swapped for a robot, made with Wonder Dynamics. By 2025 people were prompting whole salsa clips: a Veo 3 test in June, a dance school laughing that the AI doesn't know how salsa is done in April, a salsa-dancing cat made with Sora in November, and couples made with YouTube's own Dream Screen in December. By mid-2026 the remake sites had turned it into a one-photo template: media.io's Salsa Dance AI page was online by 11 Jun 2026 and Starrd's Salsa template has a preview dated 25 Jun 2026. Both use a motion-copy model driven by a real reference dance, and Starrd's is 15 seconds at 100 of its credits.
Ours is made a different way and keeps what makes salsa salsa: three small steps to every four beats, soft knees, the turn landing back on the beat, the warm bulbs and the congas at the back. Your face, hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo, and you dance in the clothes and shoes from it; nobody puts you in sequins. The couple version stays a social-dance hold: no lift, no dip, no kiss. The video comes with an instrumental salsa groove (congas, timbales, piano and horns, no vocals) and the tap of your shoes, so you can post it as it is or add your favourite salsa track in TikTok. Is the Salsa Dance trend still growing?
Evergreen, not a wave. Salsa is a dance people search all year, and AI salsa clips have appeared steadily since 2023 without one breaking out: the AI-made salsa shorts we found have at most about 21K views (read 18 Oct 2026). Two remake sites have sold it as a one-photo template since June 2026. On 18 Oct 2026 Google completes "salsa dance ai" and "ai salsa dance", a small but steady search.
