What is the Mi Chico Dance AI trend?
The Mi Chico dance is the 2026 dance trend to DJ Goja's song "Mi Chico", and the AI version everyone shares is a crew of five identical cats, dogs or people doing it on a rooftop at sunset. The clip opens with the crew leaning over a camera on the ground, one dancer grabs it for a quick close-up, then all five step back and dance the routine in sync: hands up by the face, arm rolls and hand rolls over the chest, hip sways, both hands on top of the head.
The song came out on 27 March 2026 and the dance spread on TikTok that spring, well before a new version with Jason Derulo and the Brazilian singer Melody arrived on 26 June. The rooftop crew take that the AI clips copy dates to the end of September, and an AI kitten crew posted on 30 September had 1.1 million views by 17 October. That day MakeViral counted 81,708 TikTok videos and 948.0 million views on #michico (MakeViral, read 18 Oct 2026). In October the song climbed the UK chart, and it has peaked at No. 25 (Official Charts, read 18 Oct 2026).
Here you add one photo of you or your pet and every one of the five dancers becomes a copy of it. In about a minute you see a free preview still: five of you, or five of your cat or dog, leaning over the lens against the sunset. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), vertical and 1080p: the lean-in, the close-up, then the whole crew dancing while the camera circles. People keep the outfit from their photo; pets keep their own face, coat and markings and dance on their hind legs. The video has a clap rhythm and rooftop sound but not the song, so add "Mi Chico" in TikTok when you post.
The song and the original
"Mi Chico" is by DJ Goja, the Romanian DJ and producer Ovidiu Marius Goja, who wrote and produced the original himself. The title is Spanish for "my boy" or "my guy". He has said he picked Spanish because it sounds like summer to him, and Songfacts describes the song as being about a short, intense attraction on the dancefloor. The idea came while he was working on children's music (Songfacts names his project Piky Songs): he wanted an Afrobeats track built like a kids' song, with easy, repetitive lines, and spent a week trying versions of the chorus. That repetition is why it works for a dance: the hooks come round often enough to hang a move on each one. It started as an Afro house single in March 2026; after it took off online, Jason Derulo congratulated Goja on Instagram, they reworked it together over two weeks, and the Brazilian singer Melody joined for the version released on 26 June 2026. That version topped Billboard's US Afrobeats Songs chart and reached No. 6 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (Wikipedia). Most TikToks use one of the two versions; search "Mi Chico" in the sound library and pick whichever you like.
Is the Mi Chico Dance trend still growing?
Still big and getting a second wind (18 Oct 2026). On 17 October MakeViral counted 81,708 TikTok videos and 948.0 million views on #michico, and the AI pet crews only started at the end of September. The song broke into the UK top 40 in October (Songfacts) and has peaked at No. 25 (Official Charts, read 18 Oct 2026). It's a spring and summer 2026 song, so the human dance is past its first peak; the AI crew versions are what's rising now, and AI video sites added Mi Chico templates on 15 and 16 October (MakeViral).
How to do the Mi Chico Dance trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Mi Chico Dance mixes
- You x5
- Pet x5: No person anywhere: five identical copies of the pet, each the whole animal, upright on hind legs, with paws, never hands, and no clothes. The routine scaled to paws: waves over the lens, one hops up for the close-up, then in sync: paws by the ears, paw rolls, hip sways, paws on the head, paws thrown wide at the end

What is the Mi Chico dance?
A short dance trend from 2026 to DJ Goja's song "Mi Chico": hands up framing the face, arm rolls and hand rolls in front of the chest, hip sways and hands on top of the head. The version AI accounts copy is a crew of five on a rooftop at sunset, opening with them leaning over a camera on the ground.
What song is the Mi Chico dance?
"Mi Chico" by the Romanian producer DJ Goja, first released on 27 March 2026. A version with Jason Derulo and Melody came out on 26 June 2026, and many TikToks use that one. The title is Spanish for "my boy" or "my guy".
Who started the Mi Chico dance?
It isn't credited to one creator. The song took off online in spring 2026 and dancers in Vietnam, Korea, the Philippines and the UK posted the routine from late April (MakeViral). The rooftop crew take came at the end of September, and AI kitten crews copied it from 30 September.
How much does it cost?
The preview still is free: add a photo and in about a minute you see five of you, or five of your pet, on the rooftop. If you like it, the 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), and every video is 1080p.
Can I do the Mi Chico dance with my cat or dog?
Yes. Pick Pet x5 and five copies of your cat or dog, each with its own face, coat and markings, stand up on their hind legs and dance the routine with their paws. Pets vary more than people, so check the preview first. More pet trends are on our pets page.
Why are there five of me?
The rooftop routine is danced by a crew of five, and your one photo fills every spot. Five of the same face doing the same move is the joke.
Does it keep my face and clothes?
Yes: your face, hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo, and all five of you wear the outfit you have on in it. The background never comes along; it's always the sunset rooftop. A sharp, front-facing, head-to-feet photo works best.
Does the video have the Mi Chico song in it?
No. It has a light clap rhythm, footsteps and wind, but no song. Add "Mi Chico" in TikTok or Reels when you post, and start it so the drop lands as the crew steps back to dance.
Is there a Mi Chico dance tutorial?
Plenty: Jason Derulo posted one on 23 June 2026 and slowed and mirrored versions followed. You don't need one here, though: there's nothing to film and no prompt to write, just one photo.
Is the Mi Chico trend still going?
Yes, as of 18 October 2026. The hashtag had 948.0 million views on 17 October (MakeViral), the AI pet crews started at the end of September, and the song has peaked at No. 25 in the UK (Official Charts). More dance trends you can make are on our dance page.
