What is the Toc Toc Dance AI trend?

The Toc Toc dance is a deadpan TikTok routine to "Toc Toc", a 2015 party song by the French singer Patrick Sébastien: you hop on one foot with the other knee up, knock on an invisible door with your fist, skip and kick across the room and finish with your arms flung wide, without a hint of a smile. Here you can do it from one photo of you, of you and a friend, or of your cat or dog, with a free preview first.

It took off in France in late September 2026. Sud Radio credits the moves to a creator called Nooah Prvv, and the cut MakeViral says most versions copy is @castinggastro's 11-second solo in a bare room, posted on 28 Sep (3.4M views when we read it on 16 Oct). Since then it's been danced by a college group in a dorm hallway (27.1M views, the biggest post we found), by an AI-made tabby cat, by the French Gendarmerie's official account and, Sud Radio reports, by a priest in Poland. MakeViral counted 36,674 videos and 510.1M views on #toctoc on 14 Oct, and Presse-citron reported it in the US, Germany, Italy and Poland the same day. Outside France the song often goes by "Kicékéla", after how its who's-there line sounds, and many people call the routine the Jean Phil dance, after an AI-made character whose clips helped it spread.

Here you add one photo, or one per dancer for the duo. In about a minute you get a free preview still of you, straight-faced, in a bare white room with a wooden floor. The 10-second vertical video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p: the hops with the fist knocking, the arms flung wide, a sideways skip with a kick back and the wide-arm finish, from a phone camera that never moves. Your face, hair, glasses, clothes and shoes come from your photo; pets keep their whole selves and dance upright with their own paws. The video has footsteps and room sound but not the song, so add "Toc Toc" in TikTok when you post.

The song and the original

The song is "Toc Toc" by Patrick Sébastien, a French entertainer known for party singalongs, released in 2015 (Sud Radio). "Toc toc" is the French way of writing a knock on a door, and the chorus is a knock-knock game: someone knocks, the singer asks who's there. The knock is the cue for the dance's fist move, which is why the routine reads in one second even with the sound off. We explain the song rather than print its words. In a Sud Radio interview published on 29 Sep 2026, Sébastien said his songs get called tacky at home in France while people abroad just hear them as cheerful, and that he was the first to be surprised by the trend. Abroad, many people know it as "Kicékéla", the sound of its who's-there line run together (stephanelarue.com, 25 Sep 2026). On the big posts we read, TikTok lists the audio as an original sound under the poster's or another account's name rather than his, so search his name if you want the track; Google completes "toc toc patrick sebastien" and "toc toc toc french song" (18 Oct 2026).

Is the Toc Toc Dance trend still growing?

About 430M views across TikTok, Reels, Shorts (likely 220M–800M), as of 18 Oct 2026. Estimated from the top posts.

Near its peak, not fading yet (last read 16 Oct 2026). Worldwide Google searches for "toc toc trend" first registered on 2 Oct, peaked on 10 Oct, and were at 84, 94 and 88 out of 100 on 13, 14 and 15 Oct. New versions kept coming, and three AI video sites put up pages for it between 13 and 18 Oct; Zooop's showed 1,791 uses on 18 Oct. Most posts are people doing the real dance, which tends to keep a trend going longer than photo-prompt effects.

How to do the Toc Toc Dance trend: by hand or in one click

By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.

Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.

Toc Toc Dance mixes

  • You
  • Your pet: Pet version: no person anywhere. The pet stands upright on its hind legs in the same bare white room, any collar from the photo, no clothes. It does the routine at its own size: hops on one hind leg with the other lifted, taps the air three times with one front paw like knocking, opens both front legs wide, two little sideways hops with a kick back, and finishes facing the lens with front legs open
  • You two: Duo version: the two people stand side by side in the same room, the first on the left and the second on the right, an arm's length apart, both full length in frame (the camera a little further back). Every move at exactly the same moment, like a rehearsed crew; a short sideways skip each so they never bump. Both stay dead-serious and never look at each other

  • Wear what you want to dance in: your clothes and shoes from the photo come with you into the white room.
  • One person per photo. For the duo, add one photo for each of you.

What song is the Toc Toc dance?

"Toc Toc" by Patrick Sébastien, released in 2015. Outside France many people call it "Kicékéla". Our video has footsteps and room sound, not the song, so add it in TikTok when you post.

Is the Toc Toc dance the same as the Jean Phil dance?

Often, yes. Many people call Toc Toc the Jean Phil dance, after Jean Philanthrope, an AI-made character whose deadpan clips helped it spread. The same name is used for the separate Gang Gang battle dance. If it's the one-foot hop and the knock to Patrick Sébastien's song, it's Toc Toc. Ours is you in your own clothes, not the character.

How do I do the Toc Toc trend with AI?

Add one photo of you (head to toe is best), or one per person for the duo, or one of your pet. Check the free preview, make the video, download it, and in TikTok add "Toc Toc" as the sound. There's no prompt to write and nothing to film.

Which photo works best?

One clear, well-lit photo per dancer, face uncovered, ideally head to toe: the routine is all hops and kicks, so your legs and shoes are on screen the whole time. Your clothes and shoes come with you; the room is always the same bare white one.

Is the Toc Toc trend over?

Not when we last read it: on 15 Oct 2026 searches for "toc toc trend" were still at 88 out of 100, close to their 10 Oct peak, and new versions and AI templates were still appearing on 18 Oct.
