What is the Mini Me AI trend?

The mini me AI trend puts a tiny copy of you in your own hand. You hold out your palm, and standing on it is a palm-sized you with the same face, hair and clothes, arms crossed and very cross about it. Your other finger boops its cheek, it swats the finger away with both hands, and then it gives in and hugs your fingertip. People also call it tiny me in my hand, tiny person in hand and palm-size me.

It started as a photo. In early May 2026 a prompt for a pouting, big-headed miniature of you sitting in a giant hand, with a second hand pinching its cheek, went round Instagram, and how-tos for Gemini and ChatGPT followed from 8 May. The most-watched we found, in Tamil, had 24,645 views when we read it on 18 Oct. By July the app sites had turned it into video: Starrd published its "Tiny Me in My Hand" template and a how-to on 13 Jul 2026, with the boop and the swat. Other sites have since made their own versions, a knee-high clone standing beside you (ClipTrend) or a tiny double tugging at your clothes (media.io). We found no single first post, so we build the scene fresh from your photo rather than copying anyone's clip.

Here you add one photo of yourself. You get a free preview still of you holding tiny you on a city street at night in about a minute, then the 10-second video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). Both of you come from your photo: face, hair, facial hair, glasses and clothes. Tiny you is always an adult, the same age as you, just about 10 cm tall, never a child or a big-headed doll. The video comes with small sounds (a boop, a huff, a laugh) and no music, so add your own sound when you post.

Is the Mini Me trend still growing?

Fading on social, still searched. The photo wave was in May 2026 (how-tos from 5 to 20 May), the video version came from the app sites in July, and October's new how-tos reach audiences in the tens. On 18 Oct Google still completes "mini me ai" with "free", "trend" and "prompt", and "mini me ai video" with "generator", and three template sites list it. A search catch-up page, not a rising one.

How to do the Mini Me trend: by hand or in one click

By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.

Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.

Photo tips for Mini Me

  • One clear photo of you, waist up, face to the camera and well lit.
  • Wear what you want both of you to wear: your clothes come with you onto the palm, in miniature.
  • Glasses stay if you wear them in the photo, on big you and tiny you.
  • Just you in the photo, with no hat or hand over your face. Adults only: a childhood photo won't work and isn't allowed.

Who to cast

  • You (the classic)
  • Your partner, if they can take a boop
  • The friend who's grumpy before coffee

Mini Me FAQ

Is there a free Mini Me AI video generator?

You can preview yourself in the Mini Me scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.

Which app makes the Mini Me AI video?

Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.

How many photos do I need for Mini Me?

One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.

What happens to my photos?

They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.

What is the mini me AI trend?

A short AI clip of you holding a palm-sized copy of yourself. The tiny you stands on your hand looking grumpy, you boop its cheek, it swats your finger away, then it gives in and hugs your fingertip. It's also called tiny me in my hand or tiny person in hand.

Is there a free mini me AI generator?

The preview is free here: add a photo and see a still of yourself holding tiny you in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. Plenty of tutorials put "free" in their titles; we haven't checked what those tools charge.

What's the mini me AI prompt, and do I need one?

The prompt in the May how-tos asks for a big-headed miniature of you sitting cross-legged in a giant hand, pouting, while a second hand pinches its cheek against blurred city lights. You don't need it here: add one photo and the scene is built around you. Ours keeps tiny you at normal adult proportions rather than the big-headed doll look.

Can I do the mini me trend in ChatGPT or Gemini?

For a still photo, yes: that's how it started, in May 2026. The moving version, with the boop, the swat and the hug, needs a second image-to-video step. Here both happen in one go from your photo, with the still as a free preview.

Where did the mini me trend start, and is it still going?

As an Instagram photo prompt in early May 2026, with how-tos from 8 May; we couldn't find the first post. App sites turned it into video from July (Starrd's template and how-to went up on 13 Jul). New how-tos have slowed to a trickle, but Google still completes "mini me ai" with "prompt" and "free" (18 Oct).

Is tiny me a child version of me?

No. Tiny you is always an adult, the same age as you, just scaled down to about 10 cm. Don't upload a childhood photo or a photo of a child: the maker won't take it. If you're after a childhood-photo trend, this isn't it.

Is this the Instagram "mini me" trend?

There are two. In December 2023 Instagram's "Mini You" Add Yours sticker was about sharing a childhood photo, and that isn't this. The 2026 one, a tiny copy of you as you are now, standing in your hand, is the one we make.

How long is the mini me video?

Ten seconds, one continuous shot: long enough for the grumpy stance, the boop, the swat and the hug. Starrd's version also runs 10 seconds; ClipTrend's clone-beside-you clip runs 6.

What photo works best?

One clear, well-lit photo of you, waist up, facing the camera, with nobody else in it. Both the big and the tiny you wear the clothes from your photo, so wear what you'd like to see in miniature. Glasses stay if you have them on.

Can tiny me sit on my shoulder or pull my clothes instead?

Not on this one: tiny you always stands on your palm. Other sites put a knee-high clone beside you (ClipTrend) or have it tug at your clothes (media.io).

Can my cat or dog be the mini?

Not on this one: the boop and the swat are made for a person. For your pet, see the AI pet trends.

Is this the same as the 3D figurine trend?

No. The 3D figurine trend of September 2025 was a still photo of a boxed toy of you on a desk. Mini me is a living, photoreal tiny you that moves, reacts and hugs your finger.
