What is the Zombie Love Story AI trend?
The zombie love story is a short AI film that answers a couples' question, would you still love me if I was a zombie, in four beats. Someone you love walks out of grey fog with ashen skin and clouded eyes but still their own face. You're standing there with a gun you can't bring yourself to use. It drops, they run at you with their arms wide, and the hug cuts, on the same camera angle, to the two of you laughing in golden sunshine before any of it happened. Nobody fires, nobody bites and there's no blood: it's a tearjerker dressed as a horror film.
It isn't one viral clip. Every post is a new AI render made from two photos, usually with a CapCut template (a popular one is called My Beloved Zombie) or an app site. The earliest dated write-up we found is a Russian how-to on Sostav from 29 Sep 2026. On TikTok it broke on 1 Oct 2026, when a cabin version reposted by @ghostxsniper108 passed 1.6M plays and a CapCut tutorial by @dengljqmy1g passed 3.4M (as we read them on 15–16 Oct). Couples made most of the posts we opened, then best friends, parents and pet owners; in the pet version a baseball bat often stands in for the gun.
Here you add two photos: the one who turns first, then you, or your dog or cat in the first slot. In about a minute you see a free preview still of the standoff with both faces in it. If you like it, the 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), vertical and 1080p, with its own sound (wind, a heartbeat and, after the cut, birdsong and laughter) but no music, so you can add a sound in TikTok. You can also move the whole thing to a snowed-in mountain village.
Is the Zombie Love Story trend still growing?
Past its first peak, still searched, with Halloween ahead. In our Google Trends pull on 16 Oct 2026, US searches for "zombie trend" took off on 2 Oct and peaked on 6 Oct; worldwide they peaked on 4 Oct and spent 12–16 Oct at about 40–50% of that, a small and jumpy series, so read it as a direction. A tutorial @dengljqmy1g posted on the evening of 1 Oct had 271.2K plays by 16 Oct; one it posted on 14 Oct had 1,822. On 18 Oct Google still finishes "zombie trend" with "on tiktok" and "song", and "zombie ai video" with "generator".
How to do the Zombie Love Story trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Zombie Love Story mixes
- You and your person
- You and your person, snowed-in village: World: a silent mountain village after the outbreak instead of the city street: old stone houses under snow, a snowy lane with a half-buried car, snow falling through grey fog, cold blue-white light; clothes flecked with snow, and the pistol drops into the snow. The memory after the cut is the same lane on a warm golden evening: snow gone, green grass, the low sun behind the peaks.
- Your pet turned: Pet version: the pet from the first photo is the one who turned, the whole animal on all four legs, its fur dull, matted and dusty and its eyes milky, but plainly the same animal. The survivor holds a wooden baseball bat low instead of a pistol, drops it, kneels and opens their arms, and the pet runs into them; after the cut the same pet, clean and glossy, bounds through golden grass into the same kneeling hug and licks their face. No snarling or bared teeth.

Which app makes the Zombie Love Story AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Zombie Love Story?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 3. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the zombie love story trend?
A short AI video, usually posted under the line "would you still love me if I was a zombie?". One of you has turned into a zombie, the other can't shoot, the gun drops, you hug, and it cuts to a happy memory of the two of you. It spread on TikTok from 1 Oct 2026, and every post is made from the poster's own photos.
Is there a free zombie AI video generator?
The preview here is free: add your photos and in about a minute you see a still of the standoff with both faces in it. The video isn't free: it's 100 credits ($9.90). The app sites we read on 16 Oct 2026 charge credits for each zombie video too, and one says plainly it has no free tier.
How do I do the zombie trend with my own photos?
Add a photo of the one who turns, then one of you. Check the free preview still, then make the 10-second video and post it with whatever sound you like. There's no prompt to write and no template link to find.
Which photo becomes the zombie?
The first one. Add your partner, friend or parent first and yourself second. If you'd rather be the zombie walking out of the fog, put your own photo first.
Can I do the zombie trend with my dog or cat?
Yes. Pick the pet version and your pet comes out of the fog with dusty, matted fur and clouded eyes, but the same breed, coat and markings. You hold a wooden bat instead of a gun, drop it and kneel, and it runs into your arms; after the cut it's healthy again, bounding through golden grass. More pet trends are on our pets page.
Will they still look like themselves as a zombie?
That's the point of the trend, so we keep the zombie look light: a grey tint, thin veins and pale, clouded eyes over their own face, hair, facial hair and glasses, and no heavy make-up. The clouded eyes are part of the look, not a mistake. A sharp, well-lit, front-on photo keeps the likeness best, and the preview lets you check before you pay.
Is it gory? Does anyone get shot?
No. The gun is held low, pointed at the ground, and dropped; it's never aimed at anyone and never fired. There's no blood, no wound and no biting, and the run at the end is a hug. It's closer to a weepie than a horror film.
What song is the zombie trend?
There isn't one. Every post we opened on 16 Oct 2026 used an uploaded original sound rather than a named track; the cabin version credits an account called Abookish. Your video comes with its own sound (wind, a heartbeat, then birdsong and laughter after the cut) and no music, so you can add any sound in TikTok when you post.
How long is the zombie AI video?
10 seconds, vertical 9:16, at 1080p. The cut to the memory comes at about 6 seconds. The posts we opened ran from 10 to 44 seconds, but the long ones have a tutorial tacked on; the story itself takes 10 to 13.
Whose photos can I use?
Your own, and those of adults who've said yes: being turned into a zombie, even a sweet one, isn't for everyone. Never a child's photo. More on how we handle photos in is AI face swap safe.
Where does "would you still love me if I was a zombie" come from?
It's the line written over the first seconds of the cabin version, and a twist on an older TikTok couples' question about being a worm, which got big enough for Amazon Alexa to make a video about it. Google suggests "would you still love me if i was a zombie song", but we found no song by that name behind the trend.
