It started as a prompt, not a clip. In late January 2025 people began typing lines like 'a large tiger hugging a person from behind' into PixVerse's photo-to-video tool: a Brazilian YouTube tutorial of 29 Jan 2025 calls it the trend where the tiger hugs you, and a Short from 30 Jan credits a PixVerse effect. Indonesian TikTok took it furthest as 'dipeluk harimau' (hugged by a tiger), usually from behind. Serambinews ran a how-to on 4 Feb 2025 calling it TikTok's other viral AI video besides the kung fu one, and itkoding and Merdeka followed on 11 and 12 Feb. PixVerse's TikTok announced a one-tap version, The Tiger's Touch, on 7 Feb 2025. A lion version ran alongside it, and Kling's video API now lists tiger, polar bear and brown bear hugs (its first tiger_hug was set to retire on 30 Jan 2026 and carries on as tiger_hug_pro). The clips never quite stopped: a June 2026 Short teaching the 'tiger hug magic filter' had 32,665 views when we read it on 18 Oct 2026, and ClipTrend (AI Tiger Hug) and media.io (Tiger Hug Me) both sell it as a template.
