What is the Pet Halloween Costume AI trend?
An AI pet Halloween costume video puts your own dog or cat in a costume without you buying one or wrestling it on. Ours is a five-second clip: your pet sits on a wooden floor in a dark room between two carved jack-o'-lanterns, wearing a small felt costume, glances around in the flickering orange light, then turns, tilts its head and looks straight into the camera. Pick the little witch (a pointed hat and a short cape), the pumpkin suit, the tiny vampire's tall collar or the hot-dog bun. The costumes are deliberately plain: soft felt, visible stitching, no prints and no characters, so the star is your pet.
It isn't one viral clip, and we won't pretend it is. Dressing pets up is an old Halloween habit: the US National Retail Federation's 2026 survey, published on 22 September, expects $0.92 billion to be spent on pet costumes this year, with a pumpkin (11.6%), a hot dog (5.9%) and a ghost (2.8%) among the favourites. The AI version has grown alongside it. In October 2023 owners ran a Halloween AI filter on their dogs (one husky's try had about 389,000 YouTube views when we read it on 18 October 2026); in October 2025 a pet retailer's sponsored BuzzFeed post offered an AI tool to pick your pet's costume; and by October 2026 AI pet costume pages were up on media.io, MakeViral, ClipTrend and Zooop.
On Jump on the Trend you add one photo of your pet and choose a costume. In about a minute you see a free preview still of your pet in costume, which on its own answers the "what would my dog look like as a pumpkin" question. If you want it moving, the 5-second video costs 100 credits ($9.90) and comes in 1080p. It's silent, so you can put any Halloween sound under it in TikTok. Your pet's breed, coat, markings and eye colour come from your photo; only the costume and the room are new.
Is the Pet Halloween Costume trend still growing?
Seasonal, at its yearly peak: pet costume searches and posts build through October and stop on 31 October. On 18 Oct 2026 Google completed "ai pet halloween costume", "ai dog halloween costume", "ai cat halloween costume" and "ai dog costume generator", and the US pet costume spend was forecast at $0.92 billion (NRF, 22 Sep 2026). There is no single viral clip: it's a format that comes back every year.
How to do the Pet Halloween Costume trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Pet Halloween Costume mixes
- Little witch
- Pumpkin: Costume change: no witch hat and no cape. Instead the pet wears a round, padded orange felt pumpkin suit around its body with soft ribbed seams, and a little green felt stem-and-leaf cap sitting between its ears; its face, ears and paws stay uncovered.
- Tiny vampire: Costume change: no witch hat. Instead of the witch cape the pet wears a short black felt vampire cape with a tall, stiff collar standing up behind its head and a deep red lining, fastened at the neck with a small plain round clasp. No fangs, no blood, nothing on its face.
- Hot dog: Costume change: no witch hat and no cape. Instead the pet wears a soft hot-dog costume like a little jacket: a padded tan felt bun along both sides of its body and a wavy yellow felt mustard stripe down its back, with its head, ears and front paws free.
Photo tips for Pet Halloween Costume
- One clear photo of one pet, face visible and well lit
- Sitting or standing with its body in view works best; a curled-up sleeper hides its shape
- Black cats and dark dogs: pick a bright photo, because the room is dark and the witch and vampire costumes are black
- No other animals or people in the photo
- Skip heavy filters: the coat colour comes from your photo
Who to cast
- Your dog
- Your cat
- A rabbit, guinea pig or any pet that will sit for one clear photo
Pet Halloween Costume FAQ
Is there a free Pet Halloween Costume AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the Pet Halloween Costume scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the Pet Halloween Costume AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Pet Halloween Costume?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
Is there a free AI pet Halloween costume generator?
The preview is free: add a photo of your pet, pick a costume and you see a still of your pet wearing it in about a minute. That still is yours to look at for nothing. The 5-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p.
How do I put my dog in a Halloween costume with AI?
Add one clear photo of your dog, choose the little witch, pumpkin, tiny vampire or hot dog, and check the free preview. If it looks like your dog, make the video. There's no prompt to write and no costume to buy.
Does it work for cats?
Yes. Cats, dogs, rabbits and most pets with a clear face photo work, and the costume is sized to the animal in your photo. One tip for black cats: use a bright photo, because the room is dark and two of the costumes are black.
Which costumes can I choose?
Four: a little witch (pointed felt hat and short cape), a round pumpkin suit with a stem cap, a tiny vampire cape with a tall collar, and a hot-dog bun with a mustard stripe. Pumpkin and hot dog are popular real pet costumes in the NRF's 2026 survey, and witch and vampire top its list for adults. We don't do film, game or cartoon characters.
Can I see what my pet looks like in a costume before I buy one?
That's what the free preview is good for: it shows your own pet in the costume before you spend anything. It shows the look, not the fit, so measure your pet before ordering a real one.
What photo works best?
One sharp, well-lit photo of one pet with its face visible, ideally sitting or standing with its body in view. Skip heavy filters and photos with other animals or people in them. More tips: /guides/best-photo-for-ai-face-swap/.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
Five seconds, vertical 9:16, 1080p, and silent. Add a Halloween sound in TikTok or Instagram when you post; there's no one song tied to this, so use whichever spooky track is trending that week.
Will it still look like my pet?
That's the point. The whole animal comes from your photo: breed, face, coat colour, markings, size and eye colour. Only the costume and the room are added, and your pet stays an animal on four paws with its face uncovered.
Where did the AI pet costume trend start?
It doesn't have one starting post. Pets in costumes have been an October staple for years (dogs took over the ghost photoshoot trend in 2022), owners ran Halloween AI filters on their dogs in October 2023, and by 2025 and 2026 apps and template sites offered AI pet costumes from one photo.
Can I put two pets, or me, in it?
This one is a single pet per video. For Halloween videos with you in them, see /halloween/.
Whose pet can I use?
Your own, or a pet whose owner is happy for you to use its photo. Your photo is used to make your preview and video.
