What is the Medusa Transformation AI trend?

The AI Medusa transformation is a 10-second Halloween clip where you become the gorgon: you stare down the lens, your hair lifts and twists into a crown of live snakes, your eyes flare green, and a wave of grey stone rolls across the room toward the camera. Here you add one photo, get a free preview still of yourself in the candlelit room in about a minute, then make the 10-second video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). People look for it as "ai medusa video", "medusa ai generator" and "turn me into medusa", all Google completions on 18 Oct 2026, and it's a Halloween look: Halloween falls on Saturday 31 Oct 2026.

The idea is about 2,700 years old. In Greek myth Medusa is one of the three Gorgons, the only mortal one, with living snakes for hair and a gaze that turns anyone who meets it to stone; Hesiod's Theogony names the Gorgons, and in Ovid's Metamorphoses the goddess Minerva (Athena) turns Medusa's hair into snakes. Perseus beheads her by watching her in a mirrored shield. The myth is public domain. As an AI effect it's newer and still small. Magic Hour published a "Snake Medusa Transformation" image-to-video template on 16 Mar 2026 (5 seconds, 6 uses by 18 Oct), then a Medusa Transformation photo template on 23 Apr, a Stone Serpent Ascension video template on 17 May and a Medusa Stone Gaze photo template on 2 Aug. Magica sells an AI Medusa photo filter, and Morphic has a guide to making Medusa scenes with its video tool. None of them counts more than a handful of uses yet, so this is a seasonal look rather than a hashtag wave.

Ours is a generic gorgon, not any film's, game's or brand's. It opens on you, chest up, your face large and clearly yours, in a dim room lit by candles, with a faint green light in your eyes. Then your hair drifts up as if under water, twists into a dozen or so slender snakes in the colours of your own hair, your eyes flare emerald, and the stone spreads: the floor, the candles, a fern and a chair turn to cracked grey stone, and cracks crawl in from the edges of the frame as if the camera is the one being petrified. You stay in colour at the centre. Unlike the photo filters, the person never turns to stone and grows no scales: the snakes are the change, and your face, glasses and clothes stay yours. The sound is made with the clip: wind, a rising chorus of hisses, stone grinding and a final crack, with no music. Every take is new, so watch yours before you post it.

Is the Medusa Transformation trend still growing?

Small and seasonal. Medusa effects have been sold since at least 16 Mar 2026 (Magic Hour), but no template we found has more than 6 uses, and none of the big remake sites (ZOOOP, MakeViral, ClipTrend) had one on 18 Oct 2026. Searches like "ai medusa video" and "turn me into medusa" exist, and Halloween costume season lifts gorgon looks every October. Expect a modest rise to 31 Oct and a quiet November.

How to do the Medusa Transformation trend: by hand or in one click

By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.

Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.

Photo tips for Medusa Transformation

  • One sharp photo of you, face to the camera and well lit, chest up or closer: your face is big in frame for the whole video.
  • Hair down and in view works best, since it's the hair that turns into snakes; short hair still works, the snakes are just shorter.
  • Your hair colour sets the snakes' colours, so dark hair makes dark snakes and red hair coppery ones.
  • Glasses stay if you wear them in the photo; take off sunglasses, hats and headbands.
  • One person per photo: your own, or an adult's who said yes, never a child's.

Who to cast

  • You (the classic)
  • The friend whose death stare could stop traffic
  • Your partner, with their yes

Medusa Transformation FAQ

Is there a free Medusa Transformation AI video generator?

You can preview yourself in the Medusa Transformation scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.

Which app makes the Medusa Transformation AI video?

Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.

How many photos do I need for Medusa Transformation?

One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.

What happens to my photos?

They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.

What is the AI Medusa transformation?

A 10-second AI video where you turn into Medusa: your hair writhes into live snakes, your eyes flare green and the room around you turns to stone while you stare down the lens. It's made from one photo, and your face stays yours the whole way through.

Is the AI Medusa transformation free?

The preview is free: add a photo and see a still of yourself in the candlelit room in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p.

How do I do the Medusa transformation?

Add one clear photo of your face with your hair in view, check the free preview, then make the video. There's no prompt to write and no editing app: the room, the snakes, the stone and the sound are built in. Post it with a stare-into-the-camera caption.

Do I turn to stone?

No. In the myth it's everyone who looks at Medusa who turns to stone, so here it's the room: the floor, the candles and the furniture go grey and cracked, and cracks creep in from the edges of the frame as if the camera is next. You stay in colour, with your own face, glasses and clothes.

What colour are the snakes?

They take their colours from your own hair, so dark hair makes dark snakes, blonde hair pale gold ones and red hair coppery ones. Every take is new, so the exact shades vary.

Will it still look like me?

That's the point of this one: the camera stays on your face, chest up, for all 10 seconds, and only your hair changes. The free preview shows the opening frame, your face and your own hair before the snakes, so you can check the likeness before you spend anything.

Does it work with short hair?

Yes. The snakes grow from where your hair is, so short hair gives shorter, tighter snakes and long hair a bigger crown. Hair down and in view in your photo gives the best result.

Is this a Medusa filter?

Not a live one, and not a photo filter. Magic Hour and Magica sell still-photo Medusa looks; this is a finished 10-second video, made from a photo, where the change happens on camera.

Is it scary?

Spooky rather than gory. The scene is written with no blood, no biting and no snakes on your face, just hissing hair and a stone stare. If you can't stand snakes, this one isn't for you: there are a dozen of them.

Can I do it with a friend or my pet?

Not in one video: each one has a single gorgon. Make one each from your own photos and post them side by side or back to back.

How long is the video?

10 seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p. Most other Medusa video templates we found run 5 seconds.

Is my photo kept?

For 30 days, then it's deleted automatically, and it's never used for training. You can delete everything sooner with Delete my data on Your videos; the details are in our safety guide.
