What is the Ghost Photoshoot AI trend?
The ghost photoshoot is the autumn TikTok trend where people throw a plain white bedsheet over their heads, put a pair of sunglasses on the sheet, and pose for moody, deadpan photos in ordinary places, usually to Jack Stauber's 2017 song 'Oh Klahoma'. Our AI version turns one photo of you into a 10-second video of it: you pull the sheet down over your face in a cosy retro bedroom, pose in slow motion as the ghost, then lift the sheet and grin at the camera. The joke has always been the gap between a costume that takes ten seconds to make and photos styled like a serious editorial shoot, and the reveal at the end makes it clear the ghost is you.
It started on 10 September 2020, when a TikTok creator posted still photos of himself in a bedsheet ghost costume on empty paths; Know Your Meme records 977,000+ views and 272,000+ likes in six days. Within three days others were posting their own and tagging him, and a version with sunglasses on the sheet passed 1.3 million views in three days. By 16 September 2020 videos under #GhostPhotoshoot had passed 523 million views, and Distractify and HITC had explained it. It has come back every autumn since: in 2023 a friends version passed 4.6 million views and a pet owner's Italian greyhound in a sheet passed 29.5 million, and PetsRadar called dogs in ghost costumes the pet trend of Halloween 2022. By October 2026 MakeViral, ClipTrend and remakeyourmeme all sold an AI ghost photoshoot, mostly as a still photo.
On Jump on the Trend you add one photo. We put you in the costume in a warm, film-look bedroom with the sheet folded back off your face and show you that still as a free preview in about a minute. If you like it, the 10-second vertical video costs 100 credits ($9.90) and comes in 1080p. There are three versions: solo in the retro bedroom, two ghost besties in a pumpkin patch, or your dog or cat as a tiny sheet ghost on a porch. The video has no sound of its own, so add 'Oh Klahoma' or any sound you like in TikTok when you post. For a ghost of a different kind, try the Dancing Ghost waltz or the Ghost Filter Prank.
The song and the original
The sound most ghost photoshoots use is 'Oh Klahoma', a 2017 song by the American musician Jack Stauber; Know Your Meme names it as the trend's sound from the first post in September 2020, and PetsRadar's 2022 how-to lists it as the one thing you need besides a sheet and a camera. We don't put the song in the video or quote it: pick it from TikTok's sound library when you post.
Is the Ghost Photoshoot trend still growing?
A seasonal comeback rather than a new wave: the ghost photoshoot started on 10 Sep 2020, returned in 2022 and 2023, and is back for Halloween 2026, when three remake sites sell an AI version and Google completes 'ghost photoshoot trend', 'with friends' and 'dog' (read 18 Oct 2026). Expect it to peak in the last two weeks of October.
How to do the Ghost Photoshoot trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Ghost Photoshoot mixes
- Retro bedroom
- Ghost besties in the pumpkin patch: Two-person version in a pumpkin patch at golden hour instead of the bedroom: rows of orange pumpkins, dry straw, a wooden fence, warm low sun and a little haze. Both in matching white sheet ghosts, faces clear at the start. They pull the sheets down together, put the sunglasses on, pose in slow motion (back to back, one holding a small pumpkin, both turning their heads to the lens at once), then lift the sheets at the same moment and laugh at the camera. Exactly two people
- Your pet as a ghost: Pet version: no person. The pet from the photo, the whole animal, sits on a wooden porch at dusk beside two carved jack-o'-lanterns, already under a small white sheet with eye holes and tiny round black sunglasses. It turns its sheeted head slowly to the camera and tilts it once, then the sheet slides off onto the porch and it looks down the lens with its own face. It never stands on two legs
Photo tips for Ghost Photoshoot
- One clear, front-facing photo of your face in good light
- Waist-up or full-length is best, so your trousers and shoes can show under the sheet
- If you wear glasses every day, wear them in the photo; they stay on under the sheet
- No hats, heavy filters or other people in the photo
- For a pet, one sharp photo of the whole animal facing the camera
Who to cast
- You, solo in the retro bedroom
- You and your best friend as matching ghosts
- Your dog or cat as a tiny sheet ghost
Ghost Photoshoot FAQ
Is there a free Ghost Photoshoot AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the Ghost Photoshoot scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the Ghost Photoshoot AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Ghost Photoshoot?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 3. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the ghost photoshoot trend?
People drape a plain white bedsheet over their heads, often with sunglasses on top, and pose for moody, deadpan photos in everyday places, usually set to Jack Stauber's 'Oh Klahoma'. It started on TikTok on 10 September 2020 and comes back every autumn.
How do I do the ghost photoshoot trend with AI?
Add one clear photo of your face, check the free preview of you in the costume, then make the video. There's nothing to write: the bedroom, the sheet, the sunglasses, the slow-motion poses and the reveal at the end are already set.
Is the AI ghost photoshoot free?
The preview is free: you see a still of yourself in the costume in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. If the preview doesn't look like you, stop there and pay nothing.
If the sheet covers my face, why does it need my photo?
Because the video opens with your face and ends with it. You pull the sheet down at the start and lift it off at the end, so the ghost is clearly you, which is the part a still photo of a sheet can't show.
Can I do a ghost photoshoot with my friends?
Yes. 'Ghost photoshoot with friends' is one of the most searched versions. Pick Ghost besties and add a photo of each of you: you stand side by side in a pumpkin patch in matching sheets, pose in sync and lift your sheets together. It works for couples too.
Can I do it with my dog or cat?
Yes. Pick the pet version and add one sharp photo of the whole animal. It sits on a porch by carved pumpkins under a little sheet with tiny sunglasses, turns its head slowly to the camera, then the sheet slides off. A dog version of the trend passed 29.5 million views in 2023 (Know Your Meme).
What song is used for the ghost photoshoot?
'Oh Klahoma' by Jack Stauber, a 2017 song, has been the trend's sound since the first post in 2020. Our video has no sound, so add it from TikTok's sound library when you post.
Who started the ghost photoshoot trend?
A TikTok creator who posted still photos of himself in a bedsheet costume on 10 September 2020; the post had 977,000+ views in six days, according to Know Your Meme. Sunglasses versions followed three days later. We don't name private creators.
Why the sunglasses?
They were in some of the earliest versions in September 2020 and stuck because a ghost in shades looks so unbothered. In our video they sit on the sheet over the eye holes and come off with it at the reveal.
Is this the same as the ghost filter or the dancing ghost?
No. In the Ghost Filter Prank a pale ghost rises behind you in a selfie, and in the Dancing Ghost you waltz with one in a moonlit hall. Here you are the ghost, in a bedsheet, which is the original 2020 trend.
How long is the video, and what photo works best?
Ten seconds, vertical 9:16, 1080p. Use one clear, front-facing photo in good light, waist-up or full-length so your trousers and shoes can show under the sheet. If you wear glasses, wear them in the photo. Use your own photo, or an adult's who said yes, never a child's. More tips: /guides/best-photo-for-ai-face-swap/.
