What is the Cat at the Front Door AI trend?

Cat at the Front Door is the AI doorbell-camera video of your pet coming home. It's night, the picture is grainy black-and-white with a heavy fish-eye bend, and your cat walks up to the front step, stands on its back legs, presses the doorbell with one paw, then waits. Nothing happens. So it walks right up to the camera until its face fills the screen, eyes glowing white, and meows twice. Then the door opens a crack and it trots inside, tail up. It works because everyone who owns a cat knows that look: you are late, and this is your fault.

The format borrows from two places. The first is real: cats really do set off video doorbells. On 14 August 2022 Lilly, a grey cat who had been missing for nearly a week, turned up on her family's doorstep in Mastic Beach, Long Island and set off the doorbell camera; Fox News reported it on 18 September 2022. In October 2023 a Michigan cat called Thicc Boi made national news for ringing a doorbell his owner fitted at cat height (Cole and Marmalade, 16 October 2023). The second is AI: fake security-camera clips of animals exploded with the AI bunnies on a trampoline, posted on 27 July 2025 and played about 149 million times in two days, according to Know Your Meme. After Sora 2 launched on 30 September 2025, AI doorbell-cam clips became a genre of their own, from porch bears (fact-checked by Lead Stories on 8 October 2025) to cats ringing the bell. On 18 October 2026 Google completes "ai cat doorbell videos", "sora ai cat doorbell", "cat ringing doorbell video" and "ai dog doorbell video".

On Jump on the Trend you add one photo of your pet. We put the whole animal, with its own breed, face, markings and size, on a front step under a doorbell camera, and show you that still as a free preview in about a minute. If you like it, the 10-second vertical video costs 100 credits ($9.90) and comes in 1080p, with the door chime, crickets and your pet's meows (or barks), and no music. Pick night vision, daytime in colour, or the porch serenade, where your pet plays a little banjo at the door instead. It's a fresh video made from your photo, not anyone else's footage, and there's no timestamp, logo or app screen on it, so nobody mistakes it for a real camera.

Is the Cat at the Front Door trend still growing?

An evergreen format rather than one dated wave: real doorbell clips of cats ringing to be let in date back to at least 2022, and AI doorbell-cam animal clips took off in the second half of 2025. On 18 Oct 2026 one remake site (media.io) sells a front-door cat template, and Google completes 'ai cat doorbell videos' and 'ai dog doorbell video'. We found no single origin post or view count for the AI cat-at-the-door clips themselves.

How to do the Cat at the Front Door trend: by hand or in one click

By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.

Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.

Cat at the Front Door mixes

  • Night vision
  • Daytime, in colour: A bright overcast afternoon instead of night: full natural colour from a cheap wide-angle camera, slightly washed-out with soft grain, the pet's real coat colours, no night vision and no eyeshine. The framing, the doorbell press and the stare into the lens stay the same.
  • Porch serenade: Instead of ringing the bell, the pet sits upright on the doormat strumming a small plain wooden banjo held in its front paws towards the door, head swaying, for most of the clip; at the end it stops, looks up into the lens and meows; the door stays shut. Real furry paws, no human hands. Sound: plucky banjo notes, then the meow.

Photo tips for Cat at the Front Door

  • One sharp, well-lit photo of a single pet, face towards the camera
  • Show its whole body if you can: it stands up on its back legs to reach the bell
  • Daylight beats flash; skip heavy filters and blurry action shots
  • A front-on face works best, because it ends up right in front of the lens
  • No other animals or people in the photo

Who to cast

  • Your cat (the classic version)
  • Your dog
  • A rabbit or any pet that will sit still for one clear photo

Cat at the Front Door FAQ

You can preview yourself in the Cat at the Front Door scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.

Which app makes the Cat at the Front Door AI video?

Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.

How many photos do I need for Cat at the Front Door?

One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.

What happens to my photos?

They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.

What is the AI cat at the front door video?

A fake doorbell-camera clip of a cat coming home: grainy night vision, a fish-eye view of the front step, the cat ringing the doorbell with its paw, then staring into the lens and meowing until someone lets it in. Here your own cat or dog plays the part.

Is there a free AI cat doorbell video generator?

The preview is free: add a photo of your pet and you see a still of it on the doorstep in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. If the preview doesn't look like your pet, stop there and pay nothing.

How do I make an AI doorbell video of my cat?

Add one sharp photo of your cat, check the free preview, then make the video. There's no prompt to write: the doorbell camera, the night vision, the ring, the stare and the meow are already set. Your cat's breed, face, markings and size come from the photo.

Can I do it with my dog?

Yes. Google completes 'ai dog doorbell video' too, and it works for dogs, rabbits and most pets with a clear photo. A dog barks twice instead of meowing. Dogs standing up to reach the bell are the trickiest shape, so look at the paws in your preview.

Is the real version a thing? Do cats really ring doorbells?

Some do. Lilly, a missing cat on Long Island, set off her family's doorbell camera when she came home on 14 August 2022, and Thicc Boi in Michigan rings a doorbell his owner fitted at cat height (written up on 16 October 2023). The AI version takes that idea and makes it as dramatic as you like.

Will people think it's real camera footage?

It's made to look like a doorbell camera, but we leave off the timestamp, the camera brand and the app buttons, and nothing scary or dangerous happens. Fake doorbell clips have fooled people before, like the AI bunnies on a trampoline in July 2025, so post yours as the joke it is.

What is the porch serenade mode?

Instead of ringing the bell, your pet sits on the doormat and strums a little banjo towards the door, then looks up and meows. It's the version media.io sells as a pet playing an instrument at the front door, with the same doorbell-camera look.

Can I make it in daytime and in colour?

Yes, pick 'Daytime, in colour'. Night vision turns every coat grey, so if your pet's colours are the point (a ginger cat, a tricolour dog), daytime keeps them.

What photo works best?

One sharp, well-lit photo of one pet facing the camera, ideally with its whole body in view, because it stands up on its back legs to reach the bell. A curled-up sleeper or a blurry action shot gives too little to work from. More tips: /guides/best-photo-for-ai-face-swap/.

How long is the video, and does it have sound?

Ten seconds, vertical 9:16, 1080p. It comes with a two-note door chime, crickets, a faint camera hiss and your pet's meows or barks, with no music and no voices. If you want a song under it, add the sound in TikTok when you post.
