What is the Retirement Home Halloween Party AI trend?
The Retirement Home Halloween Party is a 10-second AI video of you at about 85, standing in a care-home day room hung with paper bats, wearing a cardigan with a dozen wristwatches round your waist, telling the camera "I'm a waste of time" while the residents behind you laugh and clap. Add one photo, get a free preview still of your older self at the party in about a minute, then make the video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90).
It recreates a run of AI Halloween clips that drew tens of millions of views in 2025. In late October 2025 a TikTok and Instagram account presenting a cosy "retirement village" posted short videos of its residents showing off homemade pun costumes: a woman with spice jars taped to her jumper, a man with watches strapped round his waist, a woman with a pot on her head. People (republished by AOL on 5 Nov 2025) counted about 15.4 million views and 1.5 million likes on the spice clip alone and 13.3 million views on the watches one. The catch: none of it was real. PolitiFact found the village doesn't exist and that the clips were made with OpenAI's Sora app, and the account's own bio called it a fictional world made with AI.
The originals worked because they felt real: phone-video framing, everyday care-home light, dad-joke costumes and a room that laughs on cue. Ours keeps all of that and swaps the invented resident for you, aged about 50 years, with your own face, smile and glasses. Pick the classic waste-of-time watches, a smart cookie, a social butterfly, or the Salt and pepper duo with a friend or partner. It sits between our AI Aging Video, which shows the years rolling forward on one face, and the Halloween Costume Reveal, which is about the costume: here the costume is the punchline and old age is the stage.
Is the Retirement Home Halloween Party trend still growing?
A seasonal comeback. The original clips peaked around Halloween 2025 and were debunked within days, but searches for the format still complete on Google on 18 Oct 2026, and the run-up to Halloween on Saturday 31 Oct 2026 is when it should return. Nobody else sells it as a template yet, so this is early rather than late.
How to do the Retirement Home Halloween Party trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Retirement Home Halloween Party mixes
- A waste of time: Costume: a dozen different wristwatches strapped round the waist of the cardigan like a belt. They run a hand along the watches, say deadpan, "I'm a waste of time," and at the end tap one watch
- Smart cookie: Costume for this version, replacing the wristwatches in the still and video: a beige cardigan with about ten round biscuits pinned all over the front and a black paper graduation cap with a tassel, tipped back so the whole face shows. They tap the cap and say, slow and proud, "I'm a smart cookie."
- Social butterfly: Costume for this version, replacing the wristwatches in the still and video: a pale cardigan covered in bright paper butterflies, with big homemade cardboard butterfly wings on the back. They flap the wings once and say, beaming, "I'm a social butterfly."
- Salt and pepper (duo): Duo version: both people from the two photos, aged to about 85, stand side by side, each with their own face and glasses, hair turned white or grey. The first wears a white sweatshirt with a big hand-drawn S and a white paper cone hat like a salt shaker top; the second a black sweatshirt with a big P and a matching black cone hat. They link arms and say together, "We're salt and pepper, sixty years seasoned," then laugh as the room claps. Neither takes the other's face

- What you're wearing doesn't matter: the costume comes from the template.
- For Salt and pepper, add a second photo of the other person, taken the same way.

What is the retirement home Halloween AI trend?
Short, phone-style videos of elderly 'residents' at a care-home Halloween party showing off homemade pun costumes and delivering the punchline to camera. The 2025 originals were made with Sora and showed invented people; this template puts you in the costume, aged to about 85.
How do I make the retirement home Halloween video?
Three steps: add one clear, front-facing photo of your face; pick a costume (A waste of time, Smart cookie, Social butterfly, or the Salt and pepper duo); check the free preview still of your 85-year-old self at the party, then make the video. There's no prompt to write. Post it in TikTok, Reels or Shorts with the caption you like.
Is it free?
The preview is free: you see a still of yourself at about 85 in the costume, in the decorated day room, in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p.
Were the viral retirement home residents real?
No. PolitiFact found the retirement village doesn't exist and that the clips were made with OpenAI's Sora app; the account's own bio called it a fictional world made with AI. Correctiv's 13 Nov 2025 check pointed to glitches such as a necklace sinking into a neck.
Which costumes were in the original videos?
The best known were a woman with spice jars on her jumper ('spice girl'), a man with watches strapped round his waist ('a waste of time') and a woman with a pot on her head. PolitiFact also lists a 'J' walker, a treasure chest and 'standing on business'. Ours uses generic pun costumes: the watches, a smart cookie, a social butterfly and salt and pepper.
Will it still look like me at 85?
That's the point. The template keeps your face shape, eyes, smile and glasses and ages them: wrinkles, laugh lines, your own hairstyle turned white or silver. The free preview shows your older face before you spend anything.
Can I do it with a friend or partner?
Yes: pick Salt and pepper and add a photo of each of you. You both age to about 85, stand arm in arm in matching shaker costumes and deliver the line together.
Does it come with sound?
Yes, its own: room chatter, a bit of old swing music, your punchline and a wave of laughter and applause. Add a trending sound in the app you post to if you like.
How long is the video?
10 seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p: the build-up, the line, the laugh and a wink at the end.
How is this different from the AI Aging Video?
The AI Aging Video is a close-up of your face as the years roll forward. Here you're already 85, and it's a comedy scene: a costume, a punchline and a room that laughs.
Can I use a photo of a child or a teenager?
No. Every template on Jump on the Trend is for adults only, and the scene keeps everyone in the room clearly elderly.
