What is the Black Goo Takeover AI trend?

The Black Goo Takeover is a 5-second AI video in which glossy black ooze pours out of your sleeves, crawls over your body, hardens into sculpted living armour and leaves you roaring straight into the camera. Add one photo, get a free preview still of yourself in a rain-slick night alley in about a minute, then make the video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). Your face stays uncovered the whole way, so everyone can see it's you doing the roaring.

It's our own take on one of the biggest AI effects of the last two years. PixVerse put a one-tap 'We Are Venom!' effect in its app on 1 Nov 2024, which turned a photo of a person or an animal into a black-ooze creature, according to Atlas Cloud's history of PixVerse effects (posted 17 Aug 2026). In its Series B announcement on 10 Sep 2025, PixVerse said that template alone drew more than one billion views on social media. That's PixVerse's own figure; Atlas Cloud notes that the precise view counts passed around online don't hold up to checking, so treat it as the company's claim.

Ours isn't that character, and isn't trying to be. There's no emblem, no monster face, no white eyes and no tongue: just a pure, mirror-black ooze that turns into smooth armour and stops at your jaw. People search for the look as "symbiote transformation" and "black goo transformation" (Google completions on 18 Oct 2026), and other sites sell their own versions: Magic Hour lists templates such as Symbiote Armor and Symbiote Eruption, and Vidnoz and Pollo AI both have pages built on the PixVerse effect.

Is the Black Goo Takeover trend still growing?

Established, with a Halloween lift. The look peaked in late 2024 around PixVerse's effect, and it's now a staple that several sites keep in their libraries rather than a breaking trend. Searches for the symbiote look still complete on Google on 18 Oct 2026. Expect another bump in the run-up to Halloween on Saturday 31 Oct 2026, when dark transformations do best.

How to do the Black Goo Takeover trend: by hand or in one click

By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.

Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.

Black Goo Takeover mixes

  • You
  • Your pet: Pet version: the pet from the photo, the whole animal with no clothes or costume, sits low on the wet cobbles in place of a person (no sleeves, hands or fists). The ooze spreads up its legs, over its back and chest and sets into sculpted black armour plates that follow its own shape, stopping at the neck; at the end it opens its mouth wide in a big roar at the lens

Photo tips for Black Goo Takeover

  • One sharp photo of you, face to the camera and well lit, waist up or closer: your face stays on screen for the whole clip.
  • If you wear glasses, keep them on for the photo: the scene keeps them. Take off sunglasses and hats.
  • Any outfit works: the goo covers it in the first couple of seconds, so it only shows in the preview still.
  • One person per photo: your own, or an adult's who said yes, never a child's.
  • For your pet, one clear daylight photo of the whole animal with its face visible, so the armour keeps its shape and its face stays its own.

Who to cast

  • You (the classic)
  • The friend who gets dark when they're hungry
  • Your partner, with their yes
  • Your dog or cat

Black Goo Takeover FAQ

Is there a free Black Goo Takeover AI video generator?

You can preview yourself in the Black Goo Takeover scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.

Which app makes the Black Goo Takeover AI video?

Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.

How many photos do I need for Black Goo Takeover?

One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 2. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.

What happens to my photos?

They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.

What is the Black Goo Takeover?

A 5-second AI video where glossy black ooze pours from your sleeves, covers your body, hardens into sculpted armour and you roar at the camera. It's made from one photo of you, and your face stays uncovered the whole time.

Is it free?

The preview is free: add a photo and see a still of yourself in the night alley, with the first drip of goo running from your cuff, in about a minute. The 5-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p.

How do I make the black goo transformation?

Add one clear photo of your face, check the free preview, then make the video. There's no prompt to write and no editing app: the alley, the ooze, the armour and the sound are built in. Post it with the sound and caption you like in TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

Is this the 'We Are Venom!' effect?

No. 'We Are Venom!' is the name of PixVerse's effect from 1 Nov 2024, named after a Marvel character. Ours is a generic black-ooze armour with no character design: no emblem, no creature face, no white eyes, and your own face stays visible.

Will it still look like me?

That's the point of this version: the goo stops at your jawline, so your face, hair, facial hair and glasses from the photo stay on screen through the whole clip, including the roar. The free preview shows your face before you spend anything.

Can my dog or cat do it?

Yes. Pick Your pet and add a photo of the whole animal: the goo spreads over its coat and sets into shiny armour, its own face and markings stay visible, and it finishes with a big roar. PixVerse's original effect also took animals, by its 1 Nov 2024 announcement.

Can I do it with a friend?

Not in one video: each one has a single person or pet. Make one each and post them back to back.

How long is the video?

5 seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p: about two seconds of ooze, a second or so of armour setting, and the roar. Magic Hour's Symbiote Armor template is also 5 seconds, at 720p.

Is it scary or gory?

It's written not to be: no blood, no melting skin, no creature face. It's ooze, armour and a roar, so it lands closer to an action-film power-up than a horror film. Every take is new, so watch yours before you post it.

What sound does it come with?

Its own: a sticky squelch as the goo pours, a crackle as it hardens, and a deep roar. There's no music, so add a sound in the app you post to.

What's the symbiote transformation prompt?

The prompts other sites use describe a flowing layer of black liquid spreading over the subject's body and hardening into living armour. Here you don't write one: you add a photo and the scene is written for you.
