What is the AI Dunk AI trend?
The AI dunk trend turns one photo into a highlight nobody could film: you, in your everyday clothes, taking off from the free-throw line at a packed night game, flying over a defender and slamming the ball through the rim. Here you add one photo and get a free preview still of yourself on the court in about a minute, then make the 10-second video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). People also search for it as AI dunking, the basketball dunk AI video or the AI dunking meme.
AI-made dunks are older than the trend. A YouTube Short titled "AI generated dunk" went up on 11 Feb 2023, and a sports channel reposted one titled "This dunk was created with AI" on 10 Apr 2023 (73.1K views when we read it on 18 Oct 2026). In 2026, Oliver Kowal's YouTube videos "Dunk Contest Vs AI" (17 Mar) and "Can AI Copy My Dunks?" (13 Apr) drew 1.67M and 2.67M views. The first big wave of posts came with a CapCut "dunking AI template" that spread on TikTok in June and July 2026; the biggest early post MakeViral found, from 2 Jul, had 1.7M views by its count on 15 Oct. A second wave began on 12 Oct 2026, when an AI video app started advertising court and mascot dunk templates, nearly 480 ads by 15 Oct by MakeViral's count. Template pages followed within days: media.io's on 14 Oct and MakeViral's on 15 Oct, by their sitemap dates. MakeViral read US Google interest in "ai dunk" at 100 on 15 Oct, up from 44 a week earlier.
The versions differ mostly in what you fly over. Template sites sell a court dunk over a defender, a jump over a furry mascot, a streetball dunk on an outdoor blacktop, a pickup game that ends in a pratfall, a slow-motion alley-oop and a pet that dunks. Ours has three: Court dunk (over a defender, the default), Over the mascot (a made-up fuzzy mascot shaped like a giant basketball, not any team's) and Your pet (your dog or cat flies in instead). Your face, hair, facial hair, glasses and clothes come from your photo; for a pet, the whole animal does. The court is generic: no league, team, sponsor or broadcaster marks, no scoreboard and no real players. The video comes with sneaker squeaks, a rim clang and a crowd roar and no music, so add a sound when you post.
Is the AI Dunk trend still growing?
Rising, early, and partly paid for. AI dunk clips have been around since 2023 and the one-photo CapCut template had a first wave in June and July 2026, but the current push began on 12 Oct 2026 and much of it is one app's ads: nearly 480 by 15 Oct and 158 more on 16 Oct, by MakeViral's count. Organic posting is still small (233 TikTok videos under #aidunk on 15 Oct, MakeViral's count) and our radar scores it 1.0. Search is moving, though: MakeViral read Google interest in "ai dunk" more than doubling between 8 and 15 Oct, and on 18 Oct Google completes "ai dunk" with dunking, video, video generator and dunking meme.
How to do the AI Dunk trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
AI Dunk mixes
- Court dunk
- Over the mascot: , no defender: a big, round, fuzzy basketball-shaped mascot (orange plush, black seams, stubby arms and legs, big felt eyes, a wide felt smile), with no letters, numbers or team colours, crouches between the dunker and the hoop facing the camera, arms out. The dunker sails clean over its head in slow motion, slams it and lands just past it; the mascot topples gently onto its back and the fans laugh. Nobody touches it. Never a dragon or a real team's mascot
- Your pet: is the dunker: the whole animal from the photo, with no jersey unless it wears one in the photo; no defender and no person on the court. It bounds forward from the free-throw line and makes an impossible, slightly cartoonish leap while staying a photoreal animal, pushes the ball through the rim, lands on all four paws and looks proudly at the camera as the baseline fans jump up and cheer

AI Dunk FAQ
Is there a free AI Dunk AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the AI Dunk scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the AI Dunk AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for AI Dunk?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 2. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the AI dunk trend?
A short AI video of you making a dunk nobody could: one photo becomes you flying in from the free-throw line at a packed night game and slamming it over a defender. It's also called AI dunking or the basketball dunk AI video.
How do I do the AI dunk trend?
Add one clear photo of yourself, pick Court dunk, Over the mascot or Your pet, and check the free preview still. Then make the video: no prompt, no app and no filming.
Is the AI dunk trend free?
The preview is free: a still of you on the court in about a minute, with no card. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. Other sites charge credits too; we haven't tested their free offers.
Can my dog or cat dunk?
Yes: pick Your pet and add a photo of the whole animal. It bounds down the court, leaps from the free-throw line and pushes the ball through the rim, then looks very pleased with itself. It keeps its own fur and markings, with no jersey unless it wears one in the photo.
Can I dunk over the mascot?
Yes, that's Over the mascot: you sail clean over a big, fuzzy mascot shaped like a giant basketball, crouched in front of the hoop, and it topples onto its back as you land. It's our own made-up mascot, not any team's.
Is it the CapCut dunking template?
It's the same idea. The CapCut "dunking AI template" spread on TikTok in June and July 2026; this one is made here from your photo, with its own scene and versions, and has no link to CapCut.
What's the AI dunk prompt?
There isn't one everyone uses; MakeViral says no creator has shared one. media.io's sample prompt asks for one jump toward a clearly visible hoop, a one-handed dunk and a landing, with a steady camera and the face kept the same. Here the scene is written for you: you add a photo.
Can I dunk on a famous player, or in a real arena?
No. The defender is a generic player in a plain white jersey, and we keep real players, teams, leagues and arenas out of the video. Plenty of AI dunk clips online star famous players; this one stars you.
What song do people use for the AI dunk trend?
There's no single song. MakeViral says the slow-motion alley-oop clips use a sped-up "Careless Whisper", the 1980s saxophone ballad. Your video comes with sneaker squeaks, a rim clang and the crowd and no music, so add a track in TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
How long is the AI dunk video?
10 seconds: about two seconds of run-up, four in the air in slow motion, the slam, then a scream at the camera to finish. Other sites' versions run from 6 to 15 seconds.
Can I make my mum, dad or grandparent dunk?
Yes, with their photo and their say-so: Court dunk works for anyone, and the less likely the dunker, the better the joke. Adults only: we don't make videos from photos of children.
Will people think it's real?
It shouldn't fool anyone: you take off from the free-throw line in your everyday clothes and hang far above the rim. Post it as the joke it is.
What photo should I use?
One sharp photo of you facing the camera, full body if you have one so the jump and the legs look right, waist up otherwise. No hat or sunglasses, and nobody else in the shot.
Is my photo kept?
Not for long. Your photos stay private, are never used to train AI models, and are deleted automatically 30 days after they're made; Delete my data does it sooner. More in our guide, Is AI face swap safe?
