What is the AI Aging Video AI trend?
An AI aging video is a close portrait of you that grows old while you watch. The framing never moves and the smile never drops; only the years change, a few at a time, like one photograph a year flicking past. Lines settle in around the eyes, the hair goes silver and then white, the film grain warms and fades, and ten seconds later you're about ninety and still smiling. It's one of the oldest tricks in AI faces, and it still makes people go quiet.
The idea is older than the AI. The photographer Noah Kalina began taking a picture of himself every day in January 2000 and put six years of them on YouTube in August 2006. FaceApp's old-age filter went viral in July 2019, along with worries about where the photos went. In July 2023 TikTok's AI "Aged" filter was everywhere (Bustle counted it in 14 million videos by 19 July), and that October an independent creator released the "Time Travel" filter, which aged a face gradually over decades; by December the Washington Post was writing about people in tears at it. Since then it has been an app effect, from CapCut's "AI Age" template in 2025 to the aging generators on AI video sites now. A lot of viral AI versions begin with a baby. Ours doesn't.
Here you add one close photo of yourself as an adult. You get a free preview still of you in the portrait, usually in about a minute, and then the 10-second video for 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. It starts at the age in your photo, only ever moves forward, and ends on a healthy, smiling old age: no younger frames and no decline. There's no sound, so add a song in TikTok.
Is the AI Aging Video trend still growing?
Evergreen effect: there's no single viral clip in 2026, but the search is steady. On 18 Oct 2026 Google completes "ai aging video" with "generator", "maker", "online free" and "free", and "age progression ai video" and "aging time lapse video ai" complete too. The big filter waves were July 2019 and July and December 2023.
How to do the AI Aging Video trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Photo tips for AI Aging Video
- One close, front-facing photo with your face large in the frame and both eyes visible.
- Even, soft light: hard shadows tend to wander across the face as the years move.
- A soft smile or a relaxed face works best, because the clip holds that expression for the full ten seconds.
- A recent photo of you as an adult: the clip starts at the age in the photo and only goes forward.
- No sunglasses, hats or hands near the face, and nobody else in the photo.
Who to cast
- You
- Your partner, so you can compare notes at ninety
- A parent who wants to see what's coming, if they've said yes
AI Aging Video FAQ
Is there a free AI Aging Video AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the AI Aging Video scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the AI Aging Video AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for AI Aging Video?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is an AI aging video?
A short video of your own face growing old. You upload one photo, and the clip holds your pose and smile while the years move forward until you're about ninety. Ours is ten seconds, one locked-off shot, with the look of film photographs taken years apart.
Is there a free AI aging video generator?
The preview is free: one photo in, and a still of you in the portrait comes back, usually in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90). We don't call the video free, because it isn't.
How do I make an AI aging video of myself?
Add one close, front-facing photo of your face. Check the free preview still, then make the video. There's no prompt to write and nothing to set: the clip always runs from the age in your photo to about ninety.
Does it start from my current age?
Yes, from the age you look in the photo, and it only moves forward. Some aging videos run a whole life and show you younger first; this one never does.
Why doesn't it show me as a child first?
Because every face made here has to be an adult's, including younger versions of a real adult. So there are no baby, child or teenage frames, and we don't take childhood photos. It starts with you as you are.
How old do I end up?
About ninety: white hair, deeper lines, the same eyes and the same smile. It ends on a healthy, happy old age. There's no illness, no decline and nothing about dying in it.
What photo works best for an AI aging video?
A close, sharp, front-facing photo with your face large in the frame, both eyes visible and soft, even light. A soft smile or a relaxed face is best, since the clip holds that expression throughout. Skip sunglasses, hats, hands near the face and group shots.
How long is it, and does it have sound?
Ten seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p. It's silent: most people post these under a song, so add yours in TikTok or Instagram.
Can I make one of my mum, dad or partner?
If they're an adult and they've said yes. Seeing yourself at ninety is one thing; being handed a video of yourself at ninety by someone else is heavier, so ask first. Use a clear photo of them on their own.
Is it accurate? Is this what I'll look like?
No one can promise that. It's an imagined older you, built from your face as it is now: a good guess at the general direction, not a prediction of your skin, your hair or your health.
Is it safe to upload my face?
Aging apps have had privacy scares before (FaceApp's went viral in July 2019 with exactly that worry). Use your own photo or one you have permission for, and read how we handle photos in our safety guide at /guides/is-ai-face-swap-safe/.
Where did the AI aging trend start?
As a filter trend. FaceApp's old-age filter went viral in July 2019, TikTok's AI Aged filter in July 2023, and the Time Travel filter, which aged a face gradually across decades, from October 2023. The time-lapse idea itself goes back to face-a-day photo projects like Noah Kalina's, on YouTube since 2006.
