What is the Makeup Filter AI trend?
The AI makeup filter puts a full, finished makeup look on your own face and turns it into a 5-second vertical video. Add one clear photo, pick soft glam, pink glam, a red lip or a smoky eye, and you get a free preview still of you in that look, in a makeup artist's chair with a big fluffy brush at your cheekbone. If you like it, the video is 100 credits ($6.99): the brush makes one last sweep and lifts away, you blink slowly so the eyeshadow shows, turn to show the cheek and smile at the lens. 1080p, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

The trend comes from a CapCut template called 'Maquillage' (French for makeup). MakeViral, which sells its own version, says the template showed about 15,000 uses on 25 April 2026 and 5.1 million by 19 October 2026, and lists posts made with it at 2.2 million views (25 April), 4.6 million (10 May) and 3.1 million (6 August) (read 23 Oct 2026). In MakeViral's breakdown the video starts bare-faced, a makeup artist's hands work through base, contour, eyeshadow, liner and lips, and the eyes open in full glam. Photo tools do the same as a still: Media.io's virtual makeup try-on (Natural, Glam, Party, K-Beauty looks) and CapCut's free AI makeup filter, which its page says runs on Seedream 4.5.
Ours is in our try-on family, beside Glasses Try-On and Beard Try-On: the free preview already shows the finished look, so you know whether pink glam or a red lip suits you before you pay, and the video is the reveal. Your face shape, eyes and eye colour, brows, nose, lips, skin tone, hair and any facial hair stay as they are in your photo; only the makeup is new, and it sits on real skin rather than a beauty filter. It works for anyone, men included. It's a fun look and a style sketch, not a makeup lesson or a product match: no brands, no shade names.
Is the Makeup Filter trend still growing?
A long-running wave rather than a spike. MakeViral's timeline has big posts in April, May and August 2026 and a new one in October, and the CapCut template's count went from about 15,000 to 5.1 million uses between 25 April and 19 October 2026 (read 23 Oct 2026).
How to do the Makeup Filter trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Makeup Filter mixes
- Soft glam: a natural-finish base with the skin texture showing, warm brown and bronze matte eyeshadow blended into the crease, a soft brown wing, lashes defined at their natural length, soft contour under the cheekbones, warm peach blush and nude-rose satin lips
- Pink glam: hot-pink eyeshadow blended over the lids up to the crease, a crisp black winged liner at the outer corners, defined lashes, rosy pink blush, a soft highlight along the top of the cheekbones and glossy pink lips, over a natural base with the skin texture showing
- Red lip: a light, natural skin finish with the texture showing, brushed and defined brows in their own shape, a thin black line along the upper lashes, light mascara, almost no eyeshadow, and bold classic red matte lips with a crisp, clean outline
- Smoky eye: charcoal and soft black eyeshadow smudged around both eyes along the upper and lower lash lines and blended up into the crease, dark lashes at a natural length, a gentle contour, barely-there blush and nude matte lips, with the skin texture showing

- Bare skin or your everyday makeup both work: the look you pick replaces it.

Makeup Filter FAQ
Is there a free Makeup Filter AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the Makeup Filter scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $6.99 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the Makeup Filter AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Makeup Filter?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
How do I do the AI makeup filter trend?
1. Add one clear, front-facing photo of your face. 2. Pick a look: soft glam, pink glam, red lip or smoky eye. 3. Check the free preview still: you in that makeup, in the artist's chair. 4. If you like it, make the 5-second video: the brush makes a last sweep, you blink, turn and smile at the lens. 5. Post it, and add the trend's sound in TikTok.
Is the makeup filter free?
The preview is free: add your photo and see yourself in the look in about a minute. The 5-second video is 100 credits ($6.99), in 1080p, with no watermark.
Which looks can I try?
Four. Soft glam: warm brown eyes, a soft wing, peach blush and nude-rose lips. Pink glam: hot-pink eyeshadow, a black winged liner and glossy pink lips. Red lip: clean skin, thin liner and a bold red matte lip. Smoky eye: charcoal smudged around the eyes with nude lips. Want something else, like a blue liner or a glossy brown lip? Type it as a change under your preview and it's re-made before you pay.
Does it change my face?
No. Your face shape, eyes and eye colour, brows, nose, lips, skin tone, hair and any facial hair stay as they are in your photo. The makeup is the only new thing, and your real skin texture shows through it: it isn't a beauty filter that slims or smooths you.
Can men use it?
Yes. It keeps your own face, jaw and any beard or stubble, and puts the look on top. A red lip or a smoky eye on the friend who'd never try one is half the fun.
I'm already wearing makeup in my photo. Is that OK?
Yes. Bare skin or everyday makeup both work: the look you pick replaces what's in your photo. Heavy filters or very dark lighting make it harder to keep your face true, so use a clear, natural photo if you can.
Is this the same as the Catrina or Halloween makeup?
No. This is everyday glam makeup. For Día de Muertos face paint we have a separate Catrina Makeup template, and no face paint or skull makeup goes on this one.
Can it tell me which products or shades to buy?
No. It's a style sketch: it shows how a look and its colours sit on your face. It doesn't name brands, shades or products, and it isn't a skin or colour analysis.
What photo works best?
One recent photo of you alone, facing the camera in good, even light, with your whole face in view. Push your hair off your face, keep your hands away from it and take off sunglasses and hats. Adults only, and only your own photo or one of an adult who agreed.
