The Wipe Me Down dance trend the stomp, the kitchen clip and the AI copies
The Wipe Me Down dance is a low, bouncing stomp with the hands flicking at the floor, done to "Wipe Me Down", a rap single from 2007. Its creator, the Baltimore TikToker Carnell Nichols, calls it the Carnell stomp and has posted it since 2020. It took off again after a creator and a friend did it in a kitchen on 17 Aug 2026 (12.8M plays when we read it on 16 Oct 2026), and CapCut AI templates followed from late September, by MakeViral's dating. Searches peaked in mid-September and have held at a lower level since. You can't make it on Jump on the Trend yet (16 Oct 2026), but you can star with a friend in a similar two-person trend now, free preview first.
What is the Wipe Me Down dance trend?
It's a dance first and an AI trend second. With your knees bent low, you bounce from foot to foot in a stomp, flick both hands down at the floor on the beat, then pop up in a hop and grin at whoever is filming.
The clip that brought it back in 2026 was shot in a kitchen. Posted on 17 Aug 2026 by @dadxander (the account is now @xantoofunny), it opens with a lunge at the camera, drops into the low bounce and then hands over to a friend for their turn. It runs 15 seconds and had 12.8M plays when we read it on 16 Oct 2026: the biggest Wipe Me Down post we've found.
The AI part came later. From 28 Sep 2026, MakeViral reports, CapCut templates began turning a single photo into a clip of the dance, and by 9 Oct posts from templates that paste new faces into the kitchen clip had passed 650K views. So an AI Wipe Me Down video is usually one of two things: your face in someone else's kitchen, or a photo of you made to dance.

Want the Wipe Me Down trend here?
On paper it's the kind of clip we make: one real TikTok clip, two people, about 15 seconds, with no film or TV footage in it. If we add it, your face and hair go onto one dancer and your friend's onto the other, while the kitchen, the clothes, the stomp and the clip's own sound stay as they are. There's no Ask button on this one yet. Before any clip goes up for requests we check who's in it and the exact cut we'd copy, and we haven't finished that for the kitchen clip. We'll never make a baby or child version, which is what the most-shared template post MakeViral found does. If you'd like it sooner, suggest it with the clip's link, and try one of the two-person trends below in the meantime.

Who started the Wipe Me Down dance?
Carnell Nichols. Know Your Meme describes him as a Baltimore-based TikToker whose signature move is the Carnell stomp, with clips of it going back to 2020. He had a separate viral moment in July 2021, dancing with an alien in a spaceship, and that footage later became the Pull Up Stuntin' meme.
The 2026 kitchen clip isn't his, and it outgrew every post of his we could find: 12.8M plays on our read, against 5.5M for his 2023 dance battle (MakeViral's count) and 1.9M for his September 2026 post. People search for the "wipe me down dance guy" and the dance's "original video", and Google's suggestions for those searches lead back to him, including "carnell nichols wipe me down dance guy original".
He has said so himself. His 14 Sep 2026 post claims the trend and the dance and names the move, and MakeViral notes that commenters under the template posts ask for him to be credited. If you post a version of your own, tag him.
Wipe Me Down song: who sings it, what year, and what it means
"Wipe Me Down" began as a song by the rapper Foxx on Trill Entertainment Presents: Survival of the Fittest, a 2007 label compilation, over a beat by Mouse on tha Track. The single, released in 2007, was a remix that added Lil Boosie and Webbie, with Boosie listed as the lead artist. Wikipedia lists its peaks as No. 38 on the Hot 100, No. 8 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and No. 4 on the rap chart. YouTube's music listing credits the remix to Trill Family.
"Wipe me down" is a boast. Urban Dictionary's oldest entry, from November 2006, defines it as being clean, fresh and fly, and a 2021 entry compares it to brushing your shoulders off; some other entries there are cruder. The dance's show-off grin fits the first sense. We don't reprint the lyrics: licensed lyric sites have them.
On TikTok the trend doesn't run on the label's upload. The kitchen clip and Carnell Nichols' September post both use the same user-uploaded "original sound" (our reads, 15 Oct 2026). If you post your own take, pick that sound rather than the studio single, so your moves land on the same beats.
How to do the Wipe Me Down dance, with or without AI
Google suggests "how to do the wipe me down dance", "wipe me down dance steps" and "wipe me down dance tutorial". These are the routes people take, from no AI at all to a full AI copy. None of them runs on Jump on the Trend yet.
- Do it for real. Prop the phone at about hip height so your feet stay in shot, and clear some floor. Lunge toward the lens, drop into a low bounce from foot to foot, flick your hands at the floor on each beat, then hop. Hand over to your friend for their turn, the way the kitchen clip does.
- Don't confuse it with the line dance. "Wipe me down line dance" is a separate routine set to the same song and taught in soul line dance classes; one class posted it to YouTube on 8 Jun 2024 under the name Wipe It Down Remix. It's danced in rows and isn't the stomp.
- Use a CapCut template. MakeViral describes two kinds: ones that build the dance from one photo (from 28 Sep 2026) and ones that put new faces into the kitchen clip. Watch the example first, and skip any that animate a baby photo.
- Use an AI tool that copies a reference clip. MakeViral, a template site, copies the moves onto one photo of you, in your photo's own setting. The moves are all knees and feet, so it asks for a standing, head-to-toe photo and warns that a waist-up one gives stiff legs.
- Post it with faces that said yes. Use yourself or a friend who's up for it, keep the clip's own sound, and credit Carnell Nichols.

- Hotel Lobby ≈137M views · 2 people · 15s Two people, a rap track, one take. Two friends share the spotlight in a single fixed shot, trading bars at a hanging mic against an orange wall, much as the kitchen pair trade turns on the floor. 15 seconds, both of you on screen throughout. See yourself in it
- Bulin 47↗ Rising ≈380M views · 1 person · 15s For a solo show-off. Wipe Me Down dance trend: where it stands on 16 Oct 2026
Past its search peak, not gone (16 Oct 2026). In our Google Trends pull, worldwide searches for "wipe me down" sat at about half of their two-year high through the first half of 2026, before the kitchen clip. They climbed after the kitchen clip and had their best week of the year on 13–19 Sep, at 94. In the first half of October they ran at 70–71, so the bump above that earlier level shrank from about 44 points to about 20. "Wipe me down dance" is a much smaller search: in US daily data it registers on 13 of the 14 days from 3 to 16 Oct, around the time the AI templates were spreading.
The AI side is small next to the dance itself. On 16 Oct, Google had no suggestions at all for "wipe me down ai", "wipe me down ai video" or "wipe me down ai prompt", and YouTube suggested just "wipe me down ai" and "wipe me down ai cover". In our lifespan data on 23 AI trends, the search peak came a median 5 days after the first AI post. Wipe Me Down ran the other way round: the real dance made the search peak, and the templates arrived a week or two after it. Our stage, read 16 Oct 2026: past its peak, still steady.
