What is the 90s Horror Call AI trend?
The 90s horror call is last October's ghostface AI trend turned into a 10-second video. You lie on pink satin sheets in a dim 90s bedroom, chatting on a chunky corded phone and twirling the cord. Behind you, a tall silent figure in a black hooded robe and a white mask stands in the half-open doorway. You haven't noticed, and that's the whole joke. People call it the ghostface trend after the masked killer in Scream (1996), which opens with a phone call. Ours has a plain, featureless white mask, not the film's.
It started as a photo, not a video. Know Your Meme's earliest known example is an Instagram post by cortneydryden on 25 Sep 2025, made with Google's Gemini app, with the prompt in the caption. The next day @keepingupwithmuva posted a TikTok compilation that shared the prompt and passed 2.7 million views in four days (Know Your Meme's count). YouTube how-tos followed on 27 Sep. Searches peaked on 28 Sep 2025 and were below half that two days later. Most posts were set to a remix of Le Tigre's 'Deceptacon', and some fans answered with no-AI versions in a real mask. The trend runs on a long written prompt, which is why Google still completes "ghostface trend" with "prompt", "gemini" and "for men" a year on.
Here you add one photo of yourself, or one each for the couple version. You get a free preview still of you on the phone in the 90s bedroom, with the figure in the doorway, in about a minute. Then you can make the 10-second video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). Your face, hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo, and we dress you in a soft 90s sweater and jeans. In the video the figure steps out of the doorway and tilts its head, your smile falters, and it ends there: no knife, no blood, no contact. The clip has room sounds and no music, so add your sound when you post.
Is the 90s Horror Call trend still growing?
Seasonal, and small so far this year. Last year's photo trend peaked on 28 Sep 2025 and dropped to a tenth within a week. In the weeks of 4 and 11 Oct 2026, searches for it were at 2% of that peak (our Google Trends read, 15 Oct). Demand hasn't gone, though. On 18 Oct Google still completes "ghostface trend" with "prompt", "gemini", "couple" and "for men", three competitor sites keep template pages for it, and new posts still trickle in. Any lift will come before 31 Oct.
How to do the 90s Horror Call trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
90s Horror Call mixes

Which app makes the 90s Horror Call AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for 90s Horror Call?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 2. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the ghostface AI trend?
It's a picture, or here a short video, of you on a chunky 90s corded phone in a dim bedroom while a masked figure in a black robe stands in the doorway behind you. It started as an AI photo trend in late September 2025 and comes back every October. People call it the ghostface trend after the killer in Scream.
Is it the real Ghostface mask?
No. Our figure wears a plain, featureless white mask and a black hooded robe, not the film's mask or costume, and the template isn't connected to the Scream films or their owners. It's the same scene, a call that goes quiet and someone in the doorway, without the trademark.
Is there a free ghostface AI trend app or generator?
The preview is free here. Add a photo and you see a still of yourself on the phone with the figure in the doorway in about a minute. The 10-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p, and you only pay if you want it.
What's the ghostface trend prompt, and do I need one?
The prompt people shared in 2025 is a long written description: a dreamy Y2K portrait of you on pink satin bedding holding a 90s corded phone, grainy and dimly lit, with the masked figure in the doorway behind. Here you don't write anything. You add your photo and the scene is built around you.
Can I do the ghostface trend with Gemini?
That's how it started: the first posts were made in Google's Gemini app with a copied prompt, and they're still photos. This page makes the moving version. You get a free still first, and the video shows the figure stepping out of the doorway, which a single photo can't.
Where did the ghostface trend start?
Know Your Meme's earliest known example is an Instagram post by cortneydryden on 25 Sep 2025. A TikTok compilation by @keepingupwithmuva shared the prompt the next day and passed 2.7 million views in four days. Searches peaked on 28 Sep 2025.
Can I do the ghostface trend as a couple?
Yes. Pick the couple or friends version and add one photo of each of you. You both lie on the bed, heads together, sharing the one receiver, and the figure watches from the doorway behind you both.
Does the ghostface trend work for men?
Yes. Nothing in the scene is made for one gender. Everyone gets the same soft 90s sweater and jeans, and your own hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo.
What photo works best?
One clear, well-lit photo of you facing the camera, chest up or waist up, with nobody else in it. No sunglasses or hats. You don't need a lying-down photo: the scene puts you on the bed.
Does anything bad happen in the video?
No. The figure steps out of the doorway and tilts its head, your smile falters, and the clip ends there. There's no knife, no blood and no contact. The fear is in what hasn't happened yet.
What song do people use, and is it in the video?
Most of the 2025 posts used a remix of 'Deceptacon' by Le Tigre (Know Your Meme). It isn't in our video, which comes with room sounds and no music. Add the sound you want in TikTok or Instagram when you post.
Can my cat or dog be in it?
Not on this one: the bed, the phone and the slow realisation are made for a person. For your pet, see the AI pet trends.
