What is the Happy Diwali AI trend?
The Diwali AI video is a short festival greeting made from one photo: you, in festive clothes, light a diya on a rangoli-decorated doorstep at dusk while fireworks open over the rooftops and paper lanterns glow at the door. Here you add one photo, see a free preview still of yourself at the doorstep in about a minute, then get the 10-second video in 1080p for 100 credits ($9.90). People post these as a WhatsApp status, a Reel or a Short in the days before Diwali, which falls on Sunday 8 November 2026 this year.
No single post started it. It's a seasonal format, a greeting card that moves, and it grew out of last year's Diwali photo prompts. In the first week of October 2025 YouTube how-tos for Gemini Diwali portraits went up (the earliest we found, S M Tech's of 2 Oct, had 196,651 views when we read it on 18 Oct 2026; Komal Tech World's of 6 Oct had 40,508), and Indian outlets printed prompt lists for retro portraits (Digit, 14 Oct) and couple portraits made from selfies (Storyboard18, 17 Oct). The video step followed fast. Hindi how-tos for turning the Diwali photo into a video were up by 10 Oct; media.io's AI Diwali video generator page went up on 16 Oct 2025 with eight sample prompts, most of them someone lighting a ring of diyas; on 17 Oct ETV Bharat reported six Diwali effects in Instagram's Restyle, three of them for video; and more photo-to-video tutorials kept coming up to Lakshmi Puja on 20 Oct 2025. It's back in 2026: Diwali photo-prompt how-tos were up again by late September, the earliest photo-to-video one we found is from 12 Oct, media.io opened a Diwali video prompts page on 14 Oct, and on 18 Oct Google lists ten suggestions for "diwali ai video".
Ours is one scene, kept respectful and built to hold your face. A stone doorstep at dusk, a round rangoli of coloured powder and petals, a ring of clay diyas, a marigold garland over the door, star lanterns and fairy lights. You light the centre diya from the one on your palm, stand as the first firework opens, look up, then turn to the camera with your palms together and a smile. Your face, hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo; the outfit comes from the version you pick: a maroon silk kurta, a red silk saree, a marigold lehenga, or the two of you in matching kurta sets. There are no gods, idols or religious symbols in the scene, no writing and no brand marks, and the sound is distant fireworks and a breeze with no music, so add your song and your "Happy Diwali" when you post. It's for adults, and there's no pet version: the scene has open flames and fireworks.
Is the Happy Diwali trend still growing?
Seasonal, and rising toward its peak. Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026, so the run-up is now. Last year the Diwali photo-prompt how-tos started in the first days of October 2025, the photo-to-video ones by 10 October, and they kept coming right up to Lakshmi Puja on 20 October. This year the photo how-tos were back by late September 2026, and new Diwali AI video how-tos went up every day from 16 to 18 October. On 18 October Google already lists ten suggestions for "diwali ai video". Expect the busiest days in the week before 8 November, then quiet after Bhai Dooj on 11 November until next autumn. Our radar scores it 1.0 with one competitor site (media.io), because the demand here follows a calendar date rather than one viral post.
How to do the Happy Diwali trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Happy Diwali mixes
- Kurta
- Saree: Wardrobe: instead of the kurta they wear a deep red silk saree with a wide gold zari border and a matching short-sleeved silk blouse, the pallu draped over the left shoulder and pinned so it falls well clear of the flames, and small plain gold stud earrings; no heavy bridal jewellery, no logos or prints
- Lehenga: Wardrobe: instead of the kurta they wear a lehenga choli: a full, ankle-length marigold-orange silk skirt with gold embroidery at the hem, a fitted magenta blouse with elbow-length sleeves and a sheer gold dupatta over one shoulder, pinned back clear of the flames, with small plain gold stud earrings; no heavy bridal jewellery, no logos or prints
- You two: Two adults side by side behind the rangoli: the one on the left lights the centre diya, the one on the right holds a brass plate of three diyas. Both wear matching maroon-and-gold silk kurta sets. After the first firework they stand shoulder to shoulder, look up, then turn to the camera smiling with palms together. No kiss, no third person
Photo tips for Happy Diwali

- Your clothes in the photo don't matter: the outfit comes from the version you pick.
- For the two of you: one photo each, one person in each, both adults.
Who to cast
- You, for your Diwali WhatsApp status
- You and your partner
- You and a grown-up sibling, parent or best friend

Happy Diwali FAQ
Is there a free Happy Diwali AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the Happy Diwali scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the Happy Diwali AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Happy Diwali?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 2. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the Diwali AI video trend?
A short AI greeting made from your photo: you, dressed for Diwali, light a diya on a rangoli doorstep at dusk as fireworks open in the sky, then turn to the camera with your palms together. People share it as a WhatsApp status, a Reel or a Short in the days before Diwali.
How do I make a Diwali AI video with my photo (Diwali AI video kaise banaye)?
Add one clear photo of your face on this page and pick a version: kurta, saree, lehenga, or the two of you. You get a free preview still in about a minute; if it looks like you, make the 10-second video for 100 credits ($9.90).
Is there a free Diwali AI video generator?
The preview is free here: a still of you at the doorstep in about a minute, with no card or account. The video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. Other routes are free apps where you write both the photo prompt and the animate prompt yourself; in 2025 Instagram also had Diwali video effects for two weeks.
When is Diwali 2026?
Sunday 8 November 2026, the night of Lakshmi Puja, by India's central government holiday list and Drik Panchang. In New Delhi the festival days run from Dhanteras on Friday 6 November to Bhai Dooj on Wednesday 11 November; some places shift a day.
Can I make it with my partner or family?
Yes, two adults: pick You two and add one photo each, and you light the diyas together in matching kurta sets. It's adults only, so no photos of children, and two people is the most for now.
Can I wear a saree or a lehenga?
Yes. Pick Saree for a deep red silk saree with a gold border, or Lehenga for a marigold lehenga with a gold dupatta. The default is a maroon silk kurta, which suits anyone. The clothes in your photo aren't used.
Is there a Diwali AI video prompt?
Shared ones often come in two parts: a photo prompt (you with diyas and a rangoli, in a kurta or saree, face unchanged) and a short animate prompt (the flames flicker, you look at the camera and smile, the camera pushes in). Here you don't write either: the scene and the motion are set, and you add a photo.
Are there gods or religious images in it?
No. The scene keeps to lamps, a rangoli, a marigold garland, lanterns and fireworks, with no gods, idols, religious pictures or symbols. Some Diwali effects elsewhere put Ganesha in the scene; we'd rather not generate images of deities, and the greeting works for anyone without them.
Can I do it with my dog or cat?
Not this one: it's a scene of open flames and fireworks, and we keep animals out of those. For your pet, try the trends on our pets page.
What song do people use for Diwali videos?
There's no single song: people pick their own Diwali songs for Reels and status videos. Your video comes with distant fireworks and a breeze and no music, so add a track in Instagram, WhatsApp or YouTube when you post.
How long is the video?
10 seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p: the shape of a WhatsApp status, a Reel or a Short.
Can I add "Happy Diwali" and my name?
Not in the video itself: it has no writing, so it works in any language, Happy Diwali or Happy Deepavali. Add your words and your name as a caption or text sticker in the app you post to.
What photo works best?
One sharp photo of you facing the camera, chest up or closer, in even daylight, with nobody else in it and no sunglasses or hat. In the video your face is lit by small flames at dusk, so a clear photo helps it hold. More tips in our photo guide.
Is my photo kept?
For 30 days, then it's deleted automatically, and it's never used to train AI. You can delete everything sooner with Delete my data on Your videos; the details are in our safety guide.
