What is the Muscle Filter AI trend?
The AI muscle filter turns one ordinary photo into a five-second clip of you bulking up on the spot. You stand in a plain hallway in the clothes from your photo, and over about three seconds your shoulders broaden, your chest fills out and your arms thicken until the T-shirt pulls tight and the sleeves dig in at the seams. Then you lift both arms into a double-biceps flex and hold it. The camera never moves and nothing else changes, so the before and the after sit in one unbroken shot. That's what makes it a joke rather than a fitness advert.
Muscle filters are older than the video version. By 9 June 2023 YouTube tutorials were already explaining a TikTok "muscle filter" trend that turned a normal body into a bodybuilder's, made with a CapCut template and the ToonMe app. In January 2024 a CapCut creator account's "If I Were Fitness" filter put people's faces on gym bodies; the Daily Dot (7 Feb 2024) reported that some found it motivating, others an impossible standard, and that it often changed or de-aged the face. Single-purpose apps followed, such as GigaBody: AI Muscle filter, on the App Store from 19 June 2024. The moving version, where a photo bulks up and flexes, spread with PixVerse's "Muscle Surge" effect, which PixVerse announced in late November 2024 according to a guide by Atlas Cloud; YouTube how-tos for it begin on 27 December 2024. In October 2026 Zooop and ClipTrend both sell it as a one-photo template.
Here you add one photo of yourself, or of your cat or dog. You see a free preview still of the scene in about a minute; the 5-second video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p, with no sound, so you can put your own track on it in TikTok. Your face, hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo and stay put; only the build changes. The pet version keeps your animal's breed, coat, markings and eye colour, and gives it shoulders it never trained for.
Is the Muscle Filter trend still growing?
Evergreen effect, not a breaking trend: muscle filters have been searched for and remade since mid-2023, and no single viral post drives them now. On 18 Oct 2026 Google still completed "ai muscle filter" with free, online, app, video and reddit, and offered "muscle cat ai video" and "ai muscular dog" for the pet version.
How to do the Muscle Filter trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Muscle Filter mixes
- You
- Your pet: Pet version: no person. The pet from the photo sits upright on its haunches in the same hallway, facing the camera at its real size, with no clothes added, the camera at its chest height. Its chest, shoulders and front legs bulk up into cartoonishly toned muscle under its own fur, and it ends rearing up slightly, one front leg raised in a flex, proud and deadpan
Photo tips for Muscle Filter
- One clear photo of you, waist up or full length, with both shoulders and arms in the frame.
- A T-shirt or a fitted top works best: the joke plays out on the sleeves and seams. A thick coat or hoodie hides it.
- Face the camera in good light. Glasses, beards and hairstyles are kept, so wear them as you want to be seen.
- For the pet version: one sharp photo of your cat or dog with its face and front legs visible.
- One person (or one animal) in the photo: you, or an adult friend who said yes.
Who to cast
- You, before the gym
- Your gym buddy, with their yes
- Your cat or dog
- Your dad, if he's game
Muscle Filter FAQ
Is there a free Muscle Filter AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the Muscle Filter scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $9.90 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the Muscle Filter AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Muscle Filter?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 2. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the AI muscle filter video?
A 5-second clip made from one photo: you stand still in your own clothes while your shoulders, chest and arms grow until the shirt strains, then you finish on a double-biceps flex. It's one locked-off shot, so the before and the after are the same frame.
Is there a free AI muscle filter?
The preview is free here: add a photo and you see a still of yourself in the scene in about a minute. The video is 100 credits ($9.90), in 1080p. Plenty of apps make a still muscle photo; we haven't checked what each one charges. The moving version, with the shirt straining and the flex, is the paid part.
How do I make an AI muscle video from a photo?
Add one photo of yourself, waist up or full length, with your shoulders and arms in the frame. There's no prompt to write. We build the opening still from it (that's your free preview), then animate it: the growth, the straining shirt and the flex.
Does it keep my face?
Yes. Your face, hair, facial hair and glasses come from your photo and stay the same while the body changes. That matters here: earlier muscle filters were criticised for de-ageing or reshaping faces (Daily Dot, February 2024), and the clip only works if it's recognisably you.
Can I make my cat or dog buff?
Yes, there's a pet version. Use one clear photo of your cat or dog with its face and front legs visible. It keeps its own breed, coat, markings and eye colour; its chest and shoulders bulk up under its own fur, and it ends with one front leg raised in a flex. More animal trends are on the pets page.
What photo works best?
A front-facing photo from the waist up or full length, in good light, with both arms and shoulders in the frame. A T-shirt or a fitted top is ideal, because the joke plays out on the sleeves and the seams; a puffer jacket or a baggy hoodie hides it.
What if I'm wearing a coat, or no top, in my photo?
You keep the clothes from your photo whenever they'll show the effect. If the photo has a heavy coat, a thick hoodie or no top, the scene puts you in a plain grey T-shirt and dark jeans instead, so the shirt can do its job and nothing gets revealing.
How long is it, and does it have sound?
Five seconds, vertical 9:16, in 1080p, with no sound. Muscle-filter clips usually sit under a track, so add the sound you want in TikTok or Reels.
Does it show what I'd look like if I trained?
No. It's a joke, not a forecast: the build is invented, it grows in three seconds, and it has nothing to do with your training, diet or genes. For a plan, ask a coach, not a filter.
Where did the muscle filter trend start?
There's no single first post. TikTok had a muscle-filter trend by June 2023, made with a CapCut template and the ToonMe app; the "If I Were Fitness" filter followed in January 2024; and the moving version spread with PixVerse's Muscle Surge effect from late 2024. Ours is made from the scene above, with your photo.
Whose photo can I use?
Your own, or an adult friend's who said yes. The site is for adults, so photos of children aren't accepted. How photos are handled is in is AI face swap safe?
