What is the Bald Swipe AI trend?
Bald Swipe is a 5-second AI video prank. It opens on a nice, calm portrait of you, then a cheeky little monkey perched behind your shoulder sweeps its hand across the top of your head like a windscreen wiper, and your hair goes with it in one go. Underneath: a shiny bald scalp. Your face does the rest, from cool to wide-eyed shock to both hands on your bare head, laughing. Add one photo and you get a free preview still in about a minute: you on a rooftop at blue hour with your own hair and the monkey lining up its swipe. The video, in 1080p, is 100 credits ($6.99), and that's where the hair goes.

The bald prank is older than the AI version. In March 2021 people were filming Snapchat's 'Bald Character' lens on their partners and parents and posting the reactions to TikTok, and Distractify (21 Mar 2021) and the Colombian tech site ENTER.CO (22 Mar 2021) both wrote how-tos for it. The AI video version, where one photo becomes a clip with a swipe and a reveal, is newer: when we read them on 19 Oct 2026, PixVerse's effects list on fal included one called Bald Swipe, aieffect.art sold an AI Bald Swipe with the monkey and marked it Hot on its home page, and media.io had a slower Shaved Head AI Prank with electric clippers. None gave a launch date.
Ours keeps what makes it land: the swipe is one move, the hair is gone in a second, and the face that reacts is plainly yours. Your eyebrows, beard and glasses stay put; only the hair on top goes. On Google, "bald filter" completes to "bald filter ai", "bald filter tiktok" and "bald filter free", and "bald prank" to "bald filter prank" (read 19 Oct 2026). Those searches mostly mean a live camera lens or a photo editor; this is the video version, with the joke built in.
Is the Bald Swipe trend still growing?
An old prank in a new format. The bald filter prank has been around since at least March 2021, and on 19 Oct 2026 the one-swipe AI video version is on at least two AI effect sites (PixVerse and aieffect.art), with no dates, no use counts we could see and almost no searches for the name "bald swipe" yet. Google does complete "bald filter" to "bald filter ai", so there's an audience for the idea under its broader name.
How to do the Bald Swipe trend: by hand or in one click
By hand: put your photo into the scene with an image model, regenerate until the face looks like you, give that still to an image-to-video model with the moves written out, then check the face holds to the last frame.
Here, in one click: add a photo for each person, see a free preview still of you in the scene, then make the 1080p video from it. You pay only when it’s ready.
Photo tips for Bald Swipe
- One clear photo of you, face to the camera and well lit, from the chest up, with your hair loose and fully in view.
- The more hair you have, the funnier the swipe: long hair, curls and buns all go.
- Glasses stay if you wear them in the photo, and so do your beard and eyebrows. Take off hats, hoods, headbands and sunglasses.
- One person in the photo: your own, or an adult's who said yes, never a child's. Your clothes stay as they are.
Who to cast
- You (the classic)
- The friend who spends 40 minutes on their hair
- Your partner, with their yes, to send back to them
- The mate who's been joking about going bald for years
Bald Swipe FAQ
Is there a free Bald Swipe AI video generator?
You can preview yourself in the Bald Swipe scene free. The full 1080p video costs 100 credits, charged only when it's ready. Credits come in packs from $6.99 for 100 and work on any trend.
Which app makes the Bald Swipe AI video?
Creators put their photo into the scene with an image model, then animate it with an image-to-video model. This page does both for you from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video.
How many photos do I need for Bald Swipe?
One clear, front-facing photo per person (or pet). This template has room for 1. Add up to 3 photos of each for a closer likeness.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored privately, sent to the video model through short-lived links, never used for training, and deleted with your video after 30 days.
What is the Bald Swipe AI video?
A 5-second AI video where a monkey sweeps its hand across your head and takes all your hair with it, leaving you shiny bald, and your face goes from calm to shocked to laughing. It's made from one photo, and the face stays recognisably yours.
Is it free?
The preview is free: add a photo and see a still of yourself with your own hair and the monkey lining up its swipe, in about a minute. The 5-second video is 100 credits ($6.99), in 1080p.
How do I make the bald swipe video?
1. Add one clear photo of your face, chest up, with your hair in view. 2. Check the free preview. 3. Make the video. There's no prompt to write and no editing app: the monkey, the swipe, the reveal and the sound are built in. 4. Post it on TikTok, Reels or Shorts, or send it straight to the person in the photo.
What happens in the 5 seconds?
For the first second you hold a calm, posed look. Then the monkey swipes across the top of your head and your hair slides off with its hand. Your face snaps to shock, and for the last two seconds you clap both hands to your bare head and laugh. It's one continuous shot with its own sound: a swish, a pop, a gasp, a laugh and a bit of monkey chatter.
Is this the same as the bald filter on Snapchat or TikTok?
No. Those are live camera lenses that put a bald head on you while you film. This makes a new video from one photo, with the swipe and the reaction already in it, so the person in the photo doesn't have to be there while you film.
Does it work with long hair, curls or a bun?
Yes, and they're the funniest: the more hair goes, the bigger the reveal. Very tall or very big hair leaves the model guessing your head shape underneath, so results vary more there. Watch your take before you post it.
Will my beard and eyebrows stay?
Yes. Only the hair on top of your head goes. Eyebrows, beard, moustache and glasses come from your photo and stay.
Will it still look like me?
That's the aim: your face comes from your photo and stays through the shock and the laugh. The free preview shows your face before the swipe, and every take is new, so watch yours before you post it.
Can I see what I'd look like bald for real?
It's a prank, not a hair-loss preview. The scalp is the model's best guess, made for a laugh, so don't use it to plan a haircut or to judge hair loss.
Can I prank a friend with it?
Yes, with an adult's photo and their yes. Make it with their photo and send it to them; it's one person per video, never a child's photo.
Is it a real monkey?
No, it's an AI-made small brown monkey, and it doesn't hurt anyone: one swipe, then it sits back looking pleased with itself.
What sound does it come with?
Its own: a quick swish, a comic pop as the hair comes off, a gasp and a laugh. There's no music, so add a sound in the app you post to.
