How to find trends on YouTube Shorts now there's no Trending page
YouTube has had no single Trending page since July 2025, so on Shorts you find trends in four places: the sound page behind any Short (tap Sound), hashtag pages, the Daily Top Songs on Shorts chart on YouTube Charts, and search filtered to Shorts and a recent upload date. Then check dates, not totals. When we read them on 16 Oct 2026, all of the first 20 Shorts on the sound of Bulin 47's new song were under a week old, while 19 of the first 20 on Hotel Lobby's sound dated from 2022 to early 2025. Found one you like? Most of the AI trends in our 2026 list can be made here from one photo: a free preview still first, then the video for 100 credits ($6.99).
How to find trending Shorts on YouTube
Four places anyone can check in the YouTube app, quickest first, and a fifth if you post videos yourself.
- Tap Sound on a Short you keep seeing. The sound's page lists the other Shorts made with it and how many there are. Open a few from the top and look at when they were posted: a page led by this week's posts is a trend now, and one led by 2022 posts had its moment then.
- Open the hashtag. Tap a hashtag in a Short's title, or search for it. Its page shows how many videos and channels use it, with a Shorts tab. In our reads they ran fresher than sound pages, but they sweep in anything that shares the word.
- Read the Shorts song charts. YouTube Charts ranks the songs creators use most on Shorts, by country, daily and weekly. It catches trends built on a song, not the ones built on a clip's own audio.
- Search, then filter. Search the trend's name, tap Filter, set Type to Shorts and Upload date to Today, or Prioritize to Popularity.
- If you post, use YouTube Studio. The Trends tab under Analytics shows what your own audience searched over the last 28 days, including Shorts searches that don't have enough good answers yet.

What a Shorts sound page told us about 7 trends
For each trend we opened the Shorts page of the song behind it, the page you reach by tapping Sound in the app, and checked when each of the first 20 Shorts listed there was posted. Read logged out on 16 Oct 2026. The Shorts count is YouTube's own rounded figure.
| Trend and its sound | Shorts on the sound | When the first 20 went up | Tied to this autumn's AI trend | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bulin 47: 'Dame Hombro', the official video posted 8 Oct 2026 | 1.9K | All 20 between 10 and 16 Oct 2026 | None: fan clips and dances | Fresh. The song is trending on Shorts right now |
| Rumpelstiltskin: Riff Raff's 'Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz' | 2.6K | 10 between 9 and 15 Oct 2026; the other 10 from 2014 to June 2026 | At least 4 tiptoe takes, one with a cat | Arriving. The trend reached Shorts this week |
| Burning Bridges: Drake's song | 2.4K | 18 between 15 May and 9 Aug 2026; 2 since 25 Sep | One AI how-to, posted 4 Oct (9,249 views) | The song's own moment came with its May release |
| Raindance: Dave and Tems | 248K | All 20 between 11 Dec 2025 and 26 Jul 2026 | None | Huge, but from the dance trend earlier in the year |
| Hotel Lobby: Quavo and Takeoff | 95K | 19 between Jun 2022 and Feb 2025; 1 on 22 Sep 2026 | One AI version (394K views) | Mostly 2022's trend, still ranked first |
| Alors on Danse: Stromae | 382K | 19 between 2021 and 2024; 1 in Jun 2026 | None | An evergreen hit, not a sign of anything new |
| Smalltown Boy Cats: Bronski Beat | 58K | 17 between May and Sep 2024; 3 from Feb 2025 to May 2026 | No cats | Its life on Shorts is an 80s-dance trend, not the cats |
The order of the 20 is YouTube's own, not by date or views. Whether a Short belongs to the AI trend is judged from its title. I Wanna Love You and La Calabaza aren't in the table: we've only tracked them on TikTok. For Bulin 47 we read the sound of the official 'Dame Hombro' video, the song that followed the street freestyle.
Three trends with a Shorts angle this week
Stages as we read them on 16 Oct 2026. Add a selfie and you see a free preview still in under a minute, then decide on the full video (100 credits, $6.99). Your video keeps the clip's own sound; pick the trend sound in the app when you post.
- Bulin 47 ≈382M views · 1 person · 15s The freshest sound in our table. The official 'Dame Hombro' video went up on 8 Oct 2026 and had 11.1M views by 16 Oct, and every one of the first 20 Shorts on its sound was under a week old when we looked. The clip is vertical and 15 seconds long, so it uploads as a Short without cropping. Red lights, a portable speaker, a crowd holding up phones, and you at the centre. See yourself in it
- Rumpelstiltskin Dance ≈58M views · 1–2 people · 9s Crossing over to Shorts now: half of the first 20 Shorts on Riff Raff's track were posted between 9 and 15 Oct 2026, tiptoe takes among them. Its biggest TikTok remakes were still gaining plays on 16 Oct. Your video keeps the film's own music, so add Riff Raff's track in the app when you post. You play the imp in the hay barn, and a friend can play the maiden. See yourself in it
- Burning BridgesBeta ≈20M views · 1–2 people · 20s The one where a Short travelled: a version with The Office cast at the table was a YouTube Short with 838K views by 11 Oct 2026, and a TikTok repost of it had 2.4M plays by 16 Oct. Its remakes had slowed by 16 Oct, so this is a late jump, not an early one. Cup raised under the chandelier, on your own or with friends. See yourself in it
How to find trending sounds on YouTube Shorts
Tap Sound in the lower-right corner of a Short. YouTube's help page says that's where you see the other Shorts using the same audio, and Use this sound starts your own. On a regular video it sits under Share, then Remix. Once you look at dates, the page behind that tap is the most honest trend signal Shorts has.
The total misleads in both directions. Alors on Danse's sound carried 382K Shorts on 16 Oct 2026, the most in our table, and all but one of its first 20 were from 2021 to 2024. The 'Dame Hombro' sound carried 1.9K, the smallest, and all of its first 20 had gone up within the week. The small one was the trend.
So open five or six Shorts from the top of the page and note their dates. Mostly this week means the sound is moving. Mostly years old means people are still finding an old hit, and anything new you post will sit behind those older Shorts.
A song's page also misses AI trends whose sound is the clip itself. Google searches for Raindance's AI trend peaked on 3 Oct 2026 and for Hotel Lobby's on 26 Sep, by our search data, yet on 16 Oct those songs' Shorts pages had none and one of the AI versions in their first 20. Both AI waves ran on TikTok. Where each trend's copies played most is in TikTok vs Reels vs Shorts for trends, and using a sound once you've found it is in how trending sounds work.
What songs are trending on YouTube Shorts right now?
YouTube Charts answers this one directly. Its Daily Top Songs on Shorts chart ranks the songs creators used most on Shorts each day, country by country, and a weekly chart does the same by week. On the US chart for 15 Oct 2026, read the next day, the top two were 'misery.' by pupsies, 99 days on the chart, and Jack Stauber's 'Oh Klahoma'.
Four songs behind trends we've written up were on it: a remix of Andrew Gold's 'Spooky, Scary Skeletons' at 14, after 71 days on the chart; Róisín Murphy's 'Ramalama (Bang Bang)' at 30, up from 34; KAROL G's 'BbY WOW' at 39; and 'Bad Times' by Imael Angel at 45, with two days on the chart in all. They carry the Spooky Scary Skeletons dance, the Ramalama costume walk, the BbY WOW trend and the Bad Times lip-sync. None of the four is on Jump on the Trend yet.
No song from the trends you can make on Jump on the Trend made that day's top 50. That's the chart's blind spot: it counts songs, so it finds trends people dance or mime to and misses the ones where everyone copies a clip with its own audio. Use the chart for song trends and the sound pages for clip trends.
Where did the Trending page on YouTube go?
YouTube took it down. On 10 Jul 2025 TeamYouTube said the Trending page and the Trending Now list would go within a couple of weeks, because visits had fallen 'significantly, especially over the last five years' and people now meet trends through recommendations, search suggestions, Shorts, comments and Communities. Category charts took over, starting with Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top Podcast Shows and Trending Movie Trailers.
Shorts got a trends page of its own before that. In October 2024 YouTube announced a Shorts trends page on mobile showing what's popular in your country, and 9to5Google found it at the top of a paused Short. The help pages we read on 16 Oct 2026 don't describe it, so we can't say which apps and countries still have it. If pausing a Short shows you no Trends option, the sound and hashtag pages do the same job.
How to search for trending Shorts
Search the trend's name, then tap Filter. Since January 2026 the Type menu has a Shorts option, the Upload date menu starts at Today (the last-hour option is gone), and Sort by has become Prioritize, with a Popularity setting that YouTube says weighs views and watch time for that search. Shorts plus Today shows what's being posted; Popularity shows what's working.
For an AI trend, expect how-to videos. When we searched 'hotel lobby ai' on 16 Oct 2026, 13 of the first 20 results were tutorials or app demos by their titles, and the original COLORS performance came fourth. Lots of how-tos mean lots of people want to make it, which is the thing you're checking for.
Don't narrow to Shorts too soon, though. The earliest AI copy of Storm II we found was a 30-second YouTube video posted on 8 Sep 2026, five days before the first recasts on TikTok. It was wide, 1280 by 720, and YouTube only counts square or vertical uploads as Shorts, so a Shorts-only search would have missed it.
How to find trending hashtags and topics on YouTube Shorts
A hashtag page gives two numbers. On 16 Oct 2026, #bulin47 showed 20K videos from 6.2K channels and #hotellobby 10K videos from 6.6K channels. Channels is the more useful one: it counts different accounts, not one account posting a lot. Neither number has a date on it, so open the Shorts tab.
In our reads, hashtag pages ran fresher than sound pages. The first 10 Shorts under #hotellobby were all posted between 16 Sep and 10 Oct 2026, the opposite of its sound page, but they mixed AI versions and footballer raps with a tour of a boutique hotel. Under #bulin47, 7 of the first 10 were from 9 to 12 Oct and 3 from August, before the freestyle went up on 2 Oct: the tag is the rapper's name, so it was in use before the trend.
Templates are another tell. A Short built from one shows Use template, and YouTube's own blog suggests tapping it on a layout you like and swapping in your clips. A template that keeps getting used is a format other people want to copy.
For topics, YouTube Studio is the tool if you have a channel. Under Analytics, the Trends tab lists your audience's top searches, breakout videos from channels like yours and Content gaps for Shorts, meaning searches where viewers can't find enough good Shorts, mostly over the last 28 days. YouTube says some of it is limited by country, language and device. It shows what your audience wants, not what's viral everywhere.
The Inspiration tab is on its way out. YouTube's help page says it has been gradually deprecated since August 2026 and points creators to Ask Studio for ideas instead. Even before that it worked on desktop only and gave ideas in English only.
Why AI video trends are hard to spot on Shorts
YouTube is where their source clips live, not where the copies spread. The Raindance music video had 285.9M views on 16 Oct 2026, Hotel Lobby's COLORS performance 131.9M and Drake's 'Burning Bridges' video 26.8M. Those numbers belong to the originals. The AI versions took off on TikTok, and the table above shows how little of that wave reached the songs' Shorts pages.
Pet trends barely show up at all. A YouTube search for 'i wanna love you cat ai' on 16 Oct 2026 turned up nothing from the trend in the first 20 results, and Smalltown Boy's Shorts page had no cats in its first 20. Those trends spread through the TikTok feed, so for AI pet trends the feed is the place to watch.
So use Shorts to check, not to discover. For catching an AI trend at the start, how to find TikTok trends early covers the order the signals arrive in. Shorts then tells you whether a song or sound has reached YouTube yet, and whether it's this week's or a few years old.
How we read it
Everything here was read on 16 Oct 2026, logged out. For each sound we opened the Shorts page of the song behind the trend, the same page a tap on Sound reaches, took the first 20 Shorts in YouTube's order and read each one's upload date and views from its own page. Hashtag pages were read the same way, 10 Shorts each. Counts like 95K are YouTube's rounding. YouTube may order these pages differently for a signed-in viewer or in another country, so treat each one as a single read, not a ranking.
The chart positions are from YouTube Charts' US Daily Top Songs on Shorts for 15 Oct 2026. Search peaks come from our Google Trends dataset of AI trends, read on 15 Oct 2026. YouTube's features and menu names come from its help pages, its blog and TeamYouTube's posts, read on 16 Oct 2026; they change, and some differ by country and app version. Plays and views for the live trends are the ones read for their trend pages.
Questions people ask
How do I see trending Shorts on YouTube?
There's no Trending list any more. Tap Sound on a Short to see others made with its audio, open a hashtag's page, or search and set Filter to Shorts with an upload date of Today. For songs, YouTube Charts ranks the ones creators use most on Shorts, by country.
What's trending on YouTube Shorts right now?
For songs, the Daily Top Songs on Shorts chart: on the US chart for 15 Oct 2026, 'misery.' by pupsies was at 1, with Halloween songs such as 'Spooky, Scary Skeletons' climbing. For AI video trends, this week's trends lists the ones we track, each with its stage and the date we read it.
Why is the trending option not showing on YouTube Shorts?
YouTube removed its Trending page in July 2025. The Shorts trends page it announced in October 2024 wasn't described in its help pages when we checked on 16 Oct 2026, so it may not be in your app or country. Sound pages, hashtag pages and the Shorts song charts do the same job.
What happened to the YouTube Trending page?
YouTube retired it, along with the Trending Now list, in July 2025, saying visits had fallen a lot over five years. YouTube Charts has category charts instead, such as trending music videos, top podcast shows and movie trailers, and it ranks the top songs on Shorts too.
Why is the Inspiration tab not showing in YouTube Studio?
YouTube began deprecating it in August 2026 and now points creators to Ask Studio. Before that it was desktop-only and gave ideas in English only. To see what your audience searches, use the Trends tab under Analytics.
How do I find trending audio on YouTube Shorts?
In the Shorts camera, tap Add sound and browse the Trending list, as YouTube's blog describes. To check a sound you keep hearing, tap Sound on that Short and look at the dates of the Shorts on its page: posts from this week mean it's moving, posts from years ago mean it's an old hit.
How do I find trending hashtags on YouTube Shorts?
Tap a hashtag in a Short's title or search for it. Its page shows how many videos and channels use it: on 16 Oct 2026, #bulin47 had 20K videos from 6.2K channels. Open the Shorts tab and check the dates, because tags that are also names or everyday words collect older posts.
What are the YouTube Shorts trends in 2026?
For AI video trends, AI trends in 2026 has them month by month. In mid-October the Shorts song chart carried Halloween songs and KAROL G's 'BbY WOW', while AI remakes such as Hotel Lobby and Raindance ran mostly on TikTok.
