How many views is viral on TikTok?

About 1 million plays. TikTok doesn't publish a number for viral, so we checked the 8 AI video trends on this site (read 14–16 Oct 2026). Every one had at least one TikTok post past 1M, the biggest post in each trend had a median of about 7M plays, and a typical copy got a few thousand or fewer. By that yardstick, 100K is a strong result for one copy, 1M is viral and 10M+ is the top of a trend.

THE SHORT ANSWER

How many views is considered viral on TikTok?

Viral isn't a label TikTok gives out, and there's no official cut-off. What there is: the play counts on real posts. Here's the scale from the AI video trends we track, counted in TikTok plays (the number shown on the video) and read on 16 Oct 2026 unless a line says otherwise.

8 AI trends on TikTok: the clip, the biggest post and the copies

Plays and likes as we read them on 16 Oct 2026. Video counts are what TikTok's sound and tag pages showed on 14 Oct (15 Oct for I Wanna Love You); on 16 Oct those pages gave us no count. A linked name opens the trend, where you can make your own version.

How many views does a typical copy get?

Far fewer than the ones you see. A trend's plays pile up on a handful of posts. On 14 Oct we found 233 Raindance remakes on TikTok with 112M plays between them, and three of them held 70% of that. Hotel Lobby's 28 biggest remakes had 22.5M plays, and its top three held 57%.

Most copies never make lists like those. About 9,600 videos used Raindance's six remake sounds, so the 233 we found were about 1 in 40 of them. The #burningbridgesai tag gives an average for the whole crowd: about 2,700 videos and 9.2M views, roughly 1M of them unrelated to the trend, which works out at around 3,000 views a video. The few big posts are inside that average, so the typical video got less.

The same idea can land at 386 plays or 17.6M. An AI kitten version of the Ramalama costume walk posted on 9 Oct had 386 plays when we read it on 16 Oct. Another kitten account's version, posted two days later, had 17.6M. One owner's two pug versions of it, a day apart, had about 4,000 and about 123,000. And one remake account's 43 Rumpelstiltskin versions added up to 19.08M plays on 16 Oct, with 5.4M of that on its single best post.

How many likes is viral on TikTok?

Likes follow plays. Across 25 posts from these trends (read 16 Oct 2026), the median was about 11 likes per 100 plays, and the middle half got between about 8 and 13. So a post at 1M plays usually had something like 100,000 likes, and the 50.5M-play Raindance copy had 7.9M.

Bigger posts were liked a little more: the 15 posts at 1M plays or more had a median of 11.5 likes per 100, the 10 under 1M had 8.6. The spread was wide. Bulin 47's most-copied own-face cut got 3 per 100 (888.7K plays, 27K likes), while a cat recast of I Wanna Love You with 37.9K plays got almost 26 per 100. A high like rate on a small post isn't viral. It means the few people who saw it liked it.

How long does it take for a TikTok to go viral after posting?

Days, not weeks. The AI kitten Ramalama walk went up on 11 Oct 2026 and had 17.6M plays five days later. The same account's fairy-tale follow-up, posted on 15 Oct, had passed 2M when we read it the next day.

The first hours set the pace. In quick re-reads on 16 Oct of new AI videos a few hours old, speeds ran from about 2,000 to about 60,000 plays an hour. One 8 hours old went from 117.1K to 134.8K plays in under 20 minutes; one 4 hours old was already at 190.4K. A post that holds 40,000 an hour passes 1M in about a day.

After a week, most posts barely move. Between 15 and 16 Oct, most posts 7 to 15 days old gained 0 to 4% a day: the I Wanna Love You cat, 15 days old, went from 21.8M to 21.9M. Older posts sat still: Hotel Lobby's biggest copy, from 23 Sep, showed 6.1M on 14, 15 and 16 Oct. Late jumps do happen. Bulin 47's cat swap gained 19% in a day on its tenth day, from 184.3K to 219.5K.

When you post inside a trend changes the count too; how to make AI videos go viral has the dates for each trend's biggest copy. For how long a whole trend lasts, see how long TikTok trends last.

Why every view count here is approximate

TikTok rounds. Past a million, plays show in steps of 100,000 (1.0M, 2.7M), so a post can gain tens of thousands of plays without its number moving. An early Raindance AI copy showed 1.0M on both 15 and 16 Oct.

Instagram hides views. Bulin 47's freestyle went up on both apps. The TikTok had 955.9K likes on 16 Oct; the Instagram reel had about 7.3M likes on 15 Oct, but Instagram doesn't show its view count to logged-out visitors. So a TikTok number can be the smaller part of a clip's reach, which is why this page sticks to TikTok.

Posts disappear. Two Rumpelstiltskin posts we read at 1.8M and 989.1K plays on 15 Oct couldn't be read on 16 Oct and no longer showed on their creators' profiles.

Counts per sound went dark. TikTok's sound and tag pages gave us video counts on 14 Oct, and on 15 Oct for I Wanna Love You only; on 16 Oct they gave us none. So those figures are one or two days old. Tags also mix in other posts: about 1M of the 9.2M views on #burningbridgesai had nothing to do with the trend.

Whole-trend totals are estimates. Adding every copy across TikTok, Reels and Shorts, we put Bulin 47 at about 370M views (somewhere between 210M and 745M) and Raindance at about 200M (140M to 350M). Each trend page shows its estimate, the range and the date we read it, and how we estimate views explains the method.

How we counted. We read each public post's plays and likes logged out and dated every read; the spec behind each trend page, linked under Sources, keeps them. Copies at 1M+ are the ones we found, so there may be more. Like rates use the 25 posts in those specs with both plays and likes on 16 Oct. YouTube views of the original videos aren't counted in any TikTok figure.

How these numbers compare with the usual rules of thumb

A guide that comes up for this search (Shortimize, 15 Oct 2025) calls 1M views in 24 to 48 hours the entry point for viral, 3M to 5M in a week undeniably viral, and 100K to 250K a mini-viral moment for a newer creator. It doesn't say what data those figures come from. Our posts agree on the million mark, and the fastest match that speed: the Ramalama fairy-tale walk had passed 2M plays the day after it went up. Its like rate for viral posts, 5 to 10% or more, fits ours too: a median of 11.5 per 100 on posts at 1M or more.

Where our data stops: these are AI video trends, copied by thousands of accounts at once and read over a few days in October 2026. A first post on a new account, a brand's ad or a long tutorial can get very different numbers. AI video trends are what we make, so they're the data we have.

QUESTIONS

Questions people ask

Is 100k views viral on TikTok?

For one copy of a trend, it's a strong result but short of viral. In two of the AI trends we track, the version others copied most had 385.5K and 888.7K plays (16 Oct 2026), and every trend's biggest post had at least 1.4M.

Is 10k views on TikTok good?

For a copy of a trend, yes: it's more than most get. The roughly 2,700 videos on the #burningbridgesai tag averaged about 3,000 views each on 14 Oct 2026. It isn't viral, though.

Is 1000 views viral on TikTok?

No. It's close to what a typical copy of a trend gets. An AI kitten version of the Ramalama walk posted on 9 Oct 2026 had 386 plays; another account's version, posted two days later, had 17.6M by 16 Oct.

Is 1 million views viral on TikTok?

Yes. Across the 8 AI video trends on this site, about 25 copies reached 1M plays by 16 Oct 2026, out of tens of thousands of videos on those trends' sounds. Only 3 of the 8 trends had a TikTok post past 10M.

How many likes is considered viral on TikTok?

There's no set number, because likes follow plays. Posts at 1M plays or more in our data had a median of 11.5 likes per 100 plays, roughly 115,000 likes per million.

How many likes per 100 views is good on TikTok?

In the 25 trend posts we read on 16 Oct 2026, the middle half got about 8 to 13 likes per 100 plays, with a median near 11. Only 3 of the 25 were under 5.

How long does it take for a TikTok to go viral after posting?

Usually a few days. The AI kitten Ramalama walk reached 17.6M plays within five days of posting, and most posts we re-read at 7 to 15 days old were gaining 4% a day or less.

How many views in an hour to go viral on TikTok?

There's no official figure. New AI remakes a few hours old that we re-read on 16 Oct 2026 were adding up to about 60,000 plays an hour. At 40,000 an hour, a post passes 1M in about a day.

What percentage of videos go viral on TikTok?

A tiny share. By our count, about 25 copies reached 1M plays across our 8 trends, against more than 50,000 videos on those trends' sounds and tags: roughly 1 in 2,000. That's a rough ratio for these trends, not a figure for all of TikTok.
