How to make AI videos go viral what the biggest copies did
Copy a clip that's already spreading, post it in the days around the search peak, keep the exact cut and sound people know, and make the casting the joke. That's the pattern in the most-played AI copy of each of the eight trends on this site, read on 16 Oct 2026. It's no guarantee: about 20 smaller pet recasts of I Wanna Love You had roughly 0.3M plays between them on 15 Oct, while one had 5.3M.
Do AI videos go viral?
Yes. This autumn, several of the biggest clips we follow are AI-made. An AI clip of three kittens dancing in sync, posted on 28 Jun 2026, had 107.4M plays on TikTok on 16 Oct. A black cat clapping with human hands (25 Sep) had 43.9M, and the AI cat in a mustard suit behind I Wanna Love You (1 Oct) had 21.9M. The most-played copy we track, a Raindance remake posted on 2 Oct, had 50.5M.
Those are two different things, though. The kittens and the clapping cat are originals: one odd idea that took off, with no recipe you can follow, and you can't make either of them here. A copy takes a clip people already know and puts someone new in it. The choices behind the big copies are visible in the posts, so they can be learned. The rest of this guide is about copies: when they went up, what they kept, and who was in them.

The biggest copy of each trend, and when it went up
One row for each trend you can make on this site. First AI version is the earliest we found. Biggest copy is the most-played TikTok version we found, with plays as our daily trend run read them on 16 Oct 2026. Search peak is the busiest day for the trend's name on Google, from our own lifecycle data (read 15 Oct 2026).
| Trend | First AI version | Biggest copy we found | Who's in it | Search peak |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel Lobby | 16 Sep 2026 | 23 Sep 2026: 6.1M plays, posted wide | A black cat and a ginger cat at the hanging mic | 26 Sep 2026, 3 days after the copy |
| Raindance | 27 Sep 2026 | 2 Oct 2026: 50.5M plays, posted wide | Two men, one of them in the singer's part | 3 Oct 2026, 1 day after the copy |
| Alors on Danse | 3 Oct 2026 | 3 Oct 2026: 1.4M plays, posted wide | Gandalf and Frodo at the keyboard | 7 Oct 2026, 4 days after the copy |
| Rumpelstiltskin | 27 Aug 2026 (the AI film itself); recasts with new faces from 6 Oct | 7 Oct 2026: 5.4M plays, posted wide | Bonnie and Clyde: the imp and the maiden both recast | 5 Oct 2026, 2 days before the copy |
| Bulin 47 | 6 Oct 2026 | 10 Oct 2026: 2.7M plays, vertical | A figure from an old oil portrait, curly wig and all | 10 Oct 2026, the same day |
| Burning Bridges | 5 Oct 2026 | 9 Oct 2026: 2.4M plays (a repost of a YouTube Short) | Characters from The Office around the table | 10 Oct 2026, 1 day after the copy |
| I Wanna Love You | 1 Oct 2026 (the AI cat itself) | 10 Oct 2026: 5.3M plays, vertical | An orange cat in a cap | Still climbing on 14 Oct, too little search to time |
| Smalltown Boy Cats | 2 Oct 2026 (the AI cats themselves) | 8 Oct 2026: 3.1M plays, vertical | Someone's own two cats in a living room | Too little search to time |
TikTok only: Instagram hides play counts from logged-out viewers, so Reels can't be compared. We left out versions where real people appear as themselves. On this site Hotel Lobby and Alors on Danse are two-person trends; the two-cat version is someone else's post, shown here as evidence.
Timing: be in the wave, not first
Being first didn't win. The first AI Raindance, a Shrek take posted on 27 Sep 2026, had 1.0M plays on 16 Oct; the one posted five days later had 50.5M. Bulin 47's first swap, a cat on 6 Oct, had 219.5K against 2.7M for a version from 10 Oct. Hotel Lobby's first, two characters from Suits on 16 Sep, had 3.3M against 6.1M a week later.
Being late didn't win either. In the six trends whose Google searches we could time, every biggest copy went up somewhere from four days before the search peak to two days after it. Some of that runs the other way, since a copy with millions of plays sends people to Google, so read it as the window the big copies shared, not a rule.
In practice: start once a few different accounts have put their own cast into the same clip, and post within the week. Every trend page here shows its stage (rising, peaking or slowing) with the date we read it, and how long TikTok trends last has the timing data for 23 AI trends.
The first seconds: copy the cut that spread, not the original
The big copies of a trend tend to copy the same few seconds, and that's rarely where the original starts. When we lined up the top Raindance remakes against Dave's music video on 14 Oct 2026, the five we compared, among the biggest, all began between 50.2 and 50.5 seconds in, on the man sitting on the pier just before he looks back. Those five ran 25 to 29 seconds and had 1M to 49M plays. A 10-second template cut of the same scene had about 575K.
The moment matters more than the length. The Alors on Danse versions that took off copy the two-shot at the keyboard and the man on the right leaning into the lens; the only two we found that include the sketch's dance had about 48K and 113K views (read 14 Oct 2026). Rumpelstiltskin's recasts copy a TikTok edit that loops the tiptoe steps, and the gold ending of the original AI film turns up in none of them. The pet recasts of I Wanna Love You copy the white cat's 10-second opening, not the longer 19-second version that remake sites show as their sample.
Keep the shape, too. The most-played copies of Raindance, Hotel Lobby, Rumpelstiltskin and Alors on Danse (50.5M, 6.1M, 5.4M and 1.4M plays) were all posted wide, in the scene's own landscape frame. Cropping a wide scene to fill a phone cuts people out of it. Each trend on this site is cut to the moment the big copies use, in the clip's own shape, so this part is done before you start.
Cast someone nobody expects: pets and pairs travel
Look at the Who's in it column again. A face swap on its own isn't what people share; the casting is the joke. Hotel Lobby's biggest copy isn't two people at all but a black cat and a ginger cat trading bars, and an Alors on Danse version with two parrots at the keyboard had 1.0M plays. Raindance's most-played version puts a shirtless man in the singer's part. Bulin 47's has a figure from an old oil portrait freestyling in the crowd.
Pairs travel too. In Rumpelstiltskin, 4 of the 8 AI recasts we compared on 14 Oct 2026 recast the horrified maiden as well as the imp, and the biggest of them, a Bonnie and Clyde version, had 5.4M plays. Our read: two people in a clip means two people with a reason to share it.
Many viral copies swap in film and TV characters. We don't make those. Here the cast is you, a friend who said yes, or your pet, and that still leaves the casting that keeps working in our data, the person nobody expected in the part: your dad as the freestyler, your best friend in the green dress on the pier, your cat in the suit. See trends for couples and trends to do with friends for every two-person clip.
Does using trending audio help?
TikTok doesn't publish how sounds affect reach, so nobody outside TikTok can prove it either way. What we can see is where the copies sit: on the sound the remakes use, which often isn't the song's official one. On 14 Oct 2026 Hotel Lobby's official sound listed 447K videos, most of them from 2022, while about 11.6K videos used the sounds of remake templates. Bulin 47's trend runs on five sounds with about 18K videos between them.
Rumpelstiltskin shows how much a sound can do. The AI film it comes from went up on Instagram on 27 Aug 2026 with its own film music. A month later a TikTok edit paired the tiptoe steps with Riff Raff's "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz", and that edit, at 5.8M plays by 16 Oct, is the version the recasts copy, track included.
So find the sound most copies use: open a few and read the sound name at the bottom of each, then post with the one that comes up most. Your video from here keeps the clip's own audio, which on most of our trends is the trend sound already. Rumpelstiltskin is the exception: add the Riff Raff track in TikTok when you post. The song behind each AI trend lists every track.
Post more than one version
The accounts behind the biggest copies didn't post once. The account behind the Gandalf and Frodo version of Alors on Danse posted at least six casts of the same clip, from 215.0K plays up to 1.4M. The pet account behind the 5.3M I Wanna Love You recast posted at least ten, from 47.6K up to 5.3M. A Rumpelstiltskin remake account had 43 posts with 19.08M plays between them, 5.4M of those on a single post (read 15–16 Oct 2026).
Our read: even accounts that do this every day can't tell in advance which cast will land, so they try several. Here you get up to three free preview stills per trend, so you can try a friend, your partner and your dad in the same part before you pay for the one that makes you laugh. A video is 100 credits ($9.90), whether it's one person, two or your pets, and it takes about 5–10 minutes, emailed to you.
Four trends to try this on
Each one fits a tactic above. On timing, I Wanna Love You is the early one: its searches were still climbing on 14 Oct 2026. Searches for the other three peaked between 3 and 10 Oct, so by the pattern above, a copy now is more likely to reach your own followers than the main wave. The stage and numbers on each row come live from its trend page.
- Rumpelstiltskin Dance↗ Rising ≈57M views · 1–2 people · 9s Pairs travel: the biggest recast so far swaps both the imp and the maiden, and the top remakes were still adding plays on 16 Oct 2026. Do the duo version with a friend, and add the Riff Raff track in TikTok when you post. See yourself in it
- Bulin 47↗ Rising ≈380M views · 1 person · 15s The original was still gaining plays on 16 Oct 2026 (8.2M, up from 7.9M a day earlier), though searches peaked on 10 Oct, the day its biggest copy went up. It's vertical with the beat already in it, so there's nothing to reframe. Put whoever nobody would expect in the freestyler's spot. See yourself in it
- Raindance ≈200M views · 2 people · 28s Home of the most-played copy of any trend here, 50.5M plays, and its joke is a man in the singer's part. Here the green dress stays, so put your partner or your best friend in it. Post it wide, the way the big versions were. See yourself in it
- I Wanna Love You↗ Rising ≈55M views · 1 pet · 10s No face needed: your pet takes the cat's place, suit, phone and all. Recasts with other pets reached 5.3M plays, and new ones were still going up on 13 and 14 Oct 2026. See yourself in it
Why most AI copies stay small
In each trend we track, plays pile up on a few posts. Where we could see what the small copies did differently, it was one of the choices above: a different moment (the two Alors on Danse versions that include the sketch's dance) or a shorter cut of a long scene (Raindance's 10-second template).
Others made the same choices as a big one and still stayed small. A full 21-second Smalltown Boy Cats copy, posted on 10 Oct, two days after the 3.1M version, had 13.8K plays when we read it on 16 Oct 2026. Our read is that the poster's own audience explains much of a gap like that, and nobody outside TikTok can measure it. Doing it well is what the big copies had in common; it isn't a guarantee.
Can a copy beat the original?
Sometimes. Twice in our set, a pet version took over from the person it copied. The two Smalltown Boy cats copy a human dance posted on Instagram on 4 Aug 2026, and the I Wanna Love You cat copies a person's night-selfie routine that went viral a few days before it. In both, the AI pet version is the clip people now recast.
Head to head on plays, a copy rarely wins. The Gandalf and Frodo version of Alors on Danse, at about 1.4M TikTok plays by 16 Oct 2026, had passed the 1.29M YouTube views of Jamel TV's own clean upload of the 2010 sketch, posted on 6 Nov 2025. That's two different platforms, and an older 2011 upload has about 10.1M. Elsewhere the original stayed well ahead: Bulin 47's freestyle had 8.2M TikTok plays against 2.7M for its biggest copy, and Dave's Raindance video about 286M YouTube views against 50.5M.
Questions people ask
Why do AI generated videos go viral?
In our data, two kinds go big. Odd originals, often animals doing human things: three kittens dancing in sync (107.4M plays on 16 Oct 2026) or a cat clapping with human hands (43.9M). And copies of a clip people already know with someone unexpected in it, like the 50.5M Raindance remake. Both are short and make sense in a second, which, in our read, is most of why they get shared.
Do AI videos get less views?
We can't compare AI and non-AI posts like for like, but several of the biggest posts we follow this autumn are AI-made. Viewers can turn AI content down, though. In November 2025 TikTok announced a slider in Manage Topics that shows people less AI-generated content in their For You feed; it says this tailors the feed rather than removing videos. We have no data on how many people use it.
Does TikTok suppress AI videos?
We've seen no sign of it in our trends: AI copies of them reached 50.5M, 6.1M and 5.4M plays on TikTok (read 16 Oct 2026). TikTok does require people to label realistic AI-generated content they post, and its viewer setting for less AI content is in the answer above.
Do hashtags help you go viral on TikTok?
Not on their own, in our data. TikTok's page for the #raindanceaitrend tag showed 8.1M views in total on 14 Oct 2026, when one Raindance remake alone had about 49M plays, so that remake's plays didn't come through the tag. Add the trend's own tag so the people who do look for it find you, and put the effort into the clip.
How do you go viral on TikTok without showing your face?
Put your pet in a trend. Animals carry several of the biggest AI clips we track, and pet recasts reached 5.3M (I Wanna Love You) and 3.1M (Smalltown Boy Cats) plays by 16 Oct 2026. AI pet trends has the clips you can put your cat or dog in, with a free preview first.
How do you go viral on TikTok with a trend?
Pick a clip that's still rising, copy the exact cut and frame the big versions use, post it on the sound most copies use, within a week or so of the first AI versions, and cast someone people won't expect. Then post more than one version. How to do the AI video trend on TikTok has the step-by-step for making one here.
