Why a free full video is rare

Every second of AI video costs money to make. Google's public price list for its own video model, updated on 15 Oct 2026, charges $0.05 to $0.60 per second depending on quality and resolution, and the free-tier column for video says “Not available”. At those rates a single 15-second clip costs $0.75 to $9.00 to generate once, before any retries. That's one public example, not what any particular trend app pays, but every tool built on a video model has a bill shaped like it.

Remaking a viral clip adds to that. The whole clip is made again with a new face in it, so the cost follows the clip's length: the four trends on this page run from about 9 seconds (Rumpelstiltskin) to 28 seconds (Raindance). It's also why a two-person or pet video costs the same 100 credits here as a solo one: our cost goes by the second, not by the number of faces.

So when a video app says “free”, someone still pays for those seconds. Usually it's you, later, in one of the ways below.

What “free” usually means on AI video apps

The searches show what people are trying to dodge. On 16 Oct 2026 Google's suggestions for “face swap video free” included “30 seconds”, “60 seconds without watermark”, “no sign up” and “unlimited”, and YouTube suggested “trending free ai video generator (100 working)”. Those add-ons map onto the usual catches. Described in general terms, so check which one applies before you upload a photo:

• Free credits, then packs. A sign-up bonus or a daily allowance covers a try or two. After that you buy credits or a plan.
• A watermark on the free result. The app's logo sits on your video, and taking it off is the paid upgrade.
• A cap on length or quality. A few seconds, or a lower resolution than you'd want to post.
• A trial that turns into a subscription unless you cancel in time.
• “Free” in the headline, a price on the button. The page says free; the generate button shows credits. Read the button before you add your photo.
• A free template that isn't the trend. A look-alike effect or a new scene from a prompt, rather than the exact viral clip people recognise in their feed.

How to try a trend for free here

Nothing below asks for a card. You sign in, with your email and a one-time code, only if you decide to make the video.

1. Choose the clip

   Open the trends page and pick the one you want to be in. Each card shows who it's for (just you, two people or pets) and how long the clip runs.

2. Add a photo

   A sharp photo with your whole face showing, or a clear one of your pet on a pet trend. Two-person trends take one photo each. Which photo works best has the details.

3. Tap “See yourself in it”

   A still of you in the trend's scene arrives, usually in under a minute. This is the free part: nothing is charged, and you haven't signed up for anything.

4. Adjust it, still free

   Not quite you? Type a short change and the still is made again from your photo, or try a different photo. Each trend allows up to three free previews and up to three typed changes.

5. Decide

   If you like it, press Make my video: 100 credits ($9.90), spent only when the video is delivered. If you don't, close the page. You've paid nothing.

Four trends to test the free preview on

Each one tests the preview a different way, and the video is the same 100 credits on all four, whatever its length or cast. The views on each row are our live estimate for the trend.

What the free still shows, and what it can't

The preview is one frame of the trend with you in it. It answers the question worth settling before you pay: does this read as you, with your hair, your beard or lack of one, and your own glasses?

What a still can't show is movement. In the video, the body, clothes, moves, camera and sound all come from the original clip, and your face rides along with them. It holds best when the face is close and turned to the camera, and it's softer in wide shots or when the head turns away.

That's the trade: you check the likeness for free, and you pay only for the moving version once it exists. If the render fails, the credits come back without you asking.

The cheapest honest way to get the video

If cost is the worry, these help more than hunting for a free generator:

• Use the free previews first. Three per trend is enough to try a second photo before you spend anything.
• Pick a two-person trend for two people. One video holds both of you for 100 credits, half the price per person of two solo videos.
• Buy the 300-credit pack if you'll make three. $24.90 for three videos works out at about $8.30 each, against $9.90 for one.
• Leave HD off unless you need it. It's 50 credits more, and optional.

Careful with “free, unlimited” downloads

Google's suggestions for “face swap video free” on 16 Oct 2026 also included “30 seconds apk”. An app file from a download site hasn't been through an app store's review, and a face swap app gets the most personal photo you own.
